I have a pentacon f4/300mm lens with a m42 adapter. I'm after an pentacon 6 mount for it, but I don't know the type of mount the adapter system uses. Anyone got a clue?

Cheers

Matt

On mine 180/2.8 I simply remove m 42 adapter and lens is in pentacon mount ready to mount. Maybe I just didn't understand your question.

Sorry, I didn't word it very well... when I remove the m42 adapter, I don't have the pentacon 6 mount, rather some generic type of mount (there are no bayonet flanges or anything). I just assumed there was an equivalent pentacon 6 mount you would swop the m42 mount for.

Cheers

My m42 adapters mounts over Pentacon six mount so I have both mounts. I don't have many Pentacon lenses so I am not an expert but will ask someone on sunday phototfair about adapters and mounts.

cheers

This is no doubt silly of me, but are you sure that it is not a t-mount lens for 35mm cameras ?

As far as I can see, there is no mount, once the m42 adapter is removed. There are no flanges, screw threads or anything to attache to...

Cheers

Matt,

The 300mm f4 Pentacon/Meyer Orestegor has interchangeable rear mount with screws. Try to contact Cupog on ebay, he may have P6 mounts for the lens.

Aha, it could simply be an M42 lens then . . . ? But then I Googled, and Pentacon did make this apparently.

I think the flange to film register is 45.5mm(?) on M42 and 71.1mm(?) for P6, so an adapter would need to be 25.6mm deep to get the same lens at infinity focus on a 35mm screw-mount body. Maybe there are a couple of parts to the mount and not just the piece with the M42 thread ?

EDIT: looks like Jason also thought of the same len 🙂

Thanks all.... it looks like there is a bit, the important bit!, missing from the kit, so I'm trying to chase that up. I've messaged Cupog, and now I now what I'm looking for, hope I can find the right adapter. It would be a shame if I can't, because the glass on this lens is mint 😀

Cheers

Right, I am thinking of the same lens. The M42 adapter is actually an extension tube with M42 thread at the end.
