Pentax 67 Gas!

If you get the 75/2.8 AL you might find that your other glass gets seldom used. I own the 105/2.4 and lent it to a friend because the close focus of the 75/2.8 AL an give be the Bokeh of the longer 105/2.4 and the shallow DOF.

I also own a late 55/4.0 and perhaps it gets used about 10%-15%. Get the 75/2.8 first, and you might save a lot of money. I'm not selling my unused glass, but if I had to do it all over again basically all I really need is the 75 AL: it's that good.

At the next meet-up I'll bring my Rollie 3.5 "Whiteface" that was completely overhauled by Harry Fleenor and has a Maxwell screen upgrade. What makes the Rollei 3.5 a great camera is its WLV, its light weight, and compact size. Rollies are so light and compact that I use to carry a Tele Rolleiflex and the Rollei 3.5 F which made a very light weight portable walk around medium format kit. This camera is so quiet and smooth that I often have to try to advance the film to find out if I fired the shutter. Easily my smoothest and almost silent camera.

Now Andre owns my Tele Rollieflex and basically a Rollei 3.5 and the Tele Rolleiflex is his kit.

A week ago someone said that a 75mm AL lens had sold for $899. No idea of the condition. That is at least half of what I had seen a few years ago. Could be a one time deal. The lens is very good and very desirable.

I bought mine for $1002.00 from a dealer on EBAY.

Recently Adorama had one in "E-" condition for $899.00. I posted a "HU Pentax 75/2.8 AL" thread after PM'ing a friend who didn't have the cash flow to buy it and someone quickly bought it.

Seen one sell for $1.2K from a member in the "Pentax Forums."

IMHO not many 75 AL's hit the market, and while these prices are expensive in relative terms when compared to other great Pentax glass that sell for no money, to me the 75 AL is the ultimate lens, especially on a P67II with AE prism. Overall I don't see many available, and good luck in finding one.

The 75/2.8 AL shots here just kill me; they are so nice. I missed having funds for the one listed on Adorama by a couple of days. It's going to be a patient game of waiting for the next one to show up, and hopefully it also goes for a similar price in similar condition.

If anyone ever sees one of these show up (and aren't trying to buy it for themselves), I'd love a heads up, PM, whatever. It's probably going to be my desert island lens for the P67 system.

The 75/2.8 AL gets the most use. It's fast, can close focus, is about the same size of the 105/2.4, ans has this very cool "Tulip Hood."

BTW I own a late 55/4.0 and a late 105/2.4. Both great lenses, but the 75 AL clearly is my best lens.

I snagged one of the 105s that KEH had last night; they went as fast as they came. I really should have bought one of their BGN bodies when it came back up though; prices on eBay are so high =/

Can anyone link me to information about using the Pentax 67 for astro photography?

When I was in college, one of my friends was a 98lb youn woman in the Art Department. We'd go for camera walks together. She loved the Pentax 6x7, even though it made her look smaller than my five year old niece holing a Nikon F2. :)

I preferred the Pentax 645 ... The smoothest operating MF SLR I ever used, although the film drive wasn't particularly quiet. But overall I like 6x6 more than the other formats so went to Hasselblad.

Random P67 infrareds

Couple of random Pentax 67 IR tschots as scans (& the random tones are from scanner, scanned as a colour film - not toned by me. Some it understood to make as B&W, others it didn't, I have a bad habit to let the photomultiplier scanner "think" by itself ):

first time in 13 years i really miss my Pentax 6x7..
surely the best reason to own a SLR.

~7 minutes. The original plan was for just over 3 minutes, but the moon started to disappear and reappear from behind the clouds. So I increased it on the fly based on how much I rhought the moon was out. This it was a WAG.
