I picked up a 6x7 MLU recently and this was the result from one of the first rolls. Handheld, Fuji 160, 105mm 2.4 I think I was @ 1/60 so it isn't as sharp as I'd like. This camera sure handles different that my M2...

That's funny! After I used the Pentax 6x7 for a while, I sold it and bought a Hasselblad. ;-)

I prefer 6x6 format. Had a Pentax 645 for a bit too, nice camera, but sold it and kept the Hassy.

It's great that some people prefer one thing and others prefer something else, as it brings a richness of choice and experience.

I have used waist-level viewing cameras in the past, and strongly prefer the eye-level experience. But eye-level viewfinders for Mamiya TLRs and Hasselblads for example are awkward IMO since the cameras are designed for use at chest level.

I also prefer rectangular formats. So when I was first shopping for MF in the mid-1970's, the big Pentax was the obvious choice and I've liked it ever since. I have accumulated 4 of them... and also a pair of P645NII but I prefer the P67's handling. Now in the digital age the MF preference is the Leica S for the same reasons I chose the P67.

Of course the Hassy lenses are excellent. But also costly. The savings on Pentax lenses really make a huge difference. And they are superb lenses.

I've bought and sold two Pentax 67's. Will have to pickup another!

I have all three... and three Bronicas 🙂
Sometimes I prefer square, sometimes rectangle. If I had to keep just one, it would probably be the 67.

Haha! I haven't tried the P67 yet. Maybe if I find a cheap one i'll try.

If i like both then i'll keep them. Just having another case of GAS 😀

I'm looking to buy a 90mm f/2.8 (non leaf shutter)...and I can see that there are 2 (?) versions. Is the later one a better buy for any particular reason? I can see that the focus barrel grips are slightly different, but I'm not sure aside from that. Any insight?

I did the same thing! I had a 67 with a 105 and one longer lens. The images were great, but whenever the battery died, the mirror would hang up in mid-cycle, and I would lose the picture. And it was heavy! But I always missed the IQ I got with the 6x7 format. So years later, I have added a Mamiya 7ii for black and white work. Of course, I have kept the Hasselblad for color transparencies.

Thanks. That shows that optically they aren't any different, which is good. Do any of the "cosmetic" differences change anything? Such as the focus mechanism, smoothness, etc?
