Besides those nice pancake lenses, how else is this kit rangefinder-esque?
From my 10 month experience with the K7, I'd say:
- it's the nice quiet shutter
-the K7 + 21mm pancake is relatively compact & really not that much larger than an M8 + 28mm
-the VF blackout is nice & quick compared to any previous Pentax Dslrs I've used before (DS & K10/20D) so although it does "blink", you can still follow the scene quite well

Having owned the D200 and used the K-7 recently, I can say that they are completely different animals. The D200 is much bigger - probably 25-30% and the shutter sounds like a cannon compared to the K-7. The K-7 shutter is probably quieter than the shutter in my GF-1.
It's an amazing little, full featured, completely customizable dSLR. If I were to buy a dSLR now it would be it - or the K-X if high ISO was my first priority.

It would as far as Nikon DSLRs are concerned. Would be best to compare the this & the K7 though - there's a noticable difference.

The shutter is a big one in my opinion - nice and quiet; quieter than a friend's Bessa R2, R3 (or perhaps less "metallic" giving the perception of being quieter?).
I used to have a D300 with the 40mm SL II pancake in your photo a few years ago and the K7 has a smaller profile and is lighter than that setup (w/ the 21mm pancake I mentioned earlier).

Can I see more of K-7 shots? I like the small size, weather sealed body/lens and relatively quiet shutter of K-7. I'm getting the kit for paid gigs that I'll be doing soon and I'd love to see some real-life shots.

Holy smokin beach sand, those photos are good. The dude in the speedo, the old white guy, the kids doing push ups, Mom washing up the kids in the fountain, and my favorite, the no diving shot. What a set! Bravo.

There's a K7 pool on Flickr that will give you an idea of the range of the possible with this camera. I am finding that I wish the sync speed for flash was faster, but this is a quibble with an otherwise good rig.

Interesting idea the K-7 with a 21 (35) lens. I'll remember it when I decide to buy my first digital camera...and the pictures are good. So many different people, it seems me you have been very good in approaching them. Well done, ciao

I just received the K-7 and LOVE the size, traditional Pentax styling and QUIET shutter. Now I know why OP started this thread.
