OK , I have sorted the story of the Pentax dee-lemma ...
... and have readied it and sneaked off for a few evening landscape attempts .
Now I really know how magical the M 8 is , in that OK , it is a computer masquerading as a camera - but it does such a wonderfull job of it , without silly icons , pretty colours , and all those buttons and switches .
I recall now why I stopped taking photos - a similar sense of being distanced by the electronics and plastic bulk of my Minolta7000i.
Now having said that it is '' convenient '' , and will be a boon when chasing a moving 2. 1/2 year old , or creating a table top scene from my model cars / scooters - something which I like doing .
The camera itself , I have no issue with - it's probably no '' better or worse '' to get to grips with than any other DSLR - and it is better for me than some to hold , and I can use my tiny I 50 from the Zenit for Elmar type photos , not to mention many older lenses to look out for . In no way do I regret the modest outlay [ by DSLR standards ] , of £430 , and it will be great to extend my facility .
It's the whole issue of the shape / syle of autofocus SLRS since their inception in 35mm format .
Ok , it may be the Autism , in that it's really dee-ficult to '' dee-lete '' old files erned and replace them with more appropriate , up to date stuff , and it takes forever to learn new tricks ...
[ like I have to be conscious of the process of .'' making a cup of tea / coffee '' and have to learn to re-balance if I change shoes , + a lot more ]
but I have skimmed the surface of my mac , and will be able to simplify my interaction with my Pentax .
But the '' changeable '' zoom lense , and view is a deesturbing as it has ever been - Asdee likes a constant window , as I dee-covered with such intense relief with my Fed - Leicas not so long ago .
My 1st Leica III , 15 months ago literally brough a confusing world into focus through t's constant window and familiar controls - the M 8 simply built on this enabling me to bring this new '' connection '' into the digital domain .
It's just that I needed my Pentax to show me this - my M 8 must have the most simple , uncluttered , intuitive interface twix Asdee not-quite-person and a computer at the heart of a camera .
How can I describe this ? An inheritance enabled the M 8 , it was so OTT finacially , I can in no way justify it , but it has opened up a confusing world for me - and that is priceless ...
The Pentax ? It will not make me a better considerd snapshooter , but it will complement my M 8 - but I have no dee-sire whatsoever for a '' better '' much more expensive Nikon D 300 or whatever ...
