Pentax-L 43mm 1.9 with M9

I used my Voigtlaender Nokton on my M9 for some photography. It was foggy that morning, and maybe, any lens would have worked well then.
By mistake, I wrote here that it was a Pentax-L 43mm lens.
Post 7 starts with images taken with the Pentax-L.

I thought at first that I used the Pentax-L 43mm lens here, but after some inspections, I am sure it was the Nokton. I will post separately about the Pentax-L.

I will post next (here) images taken with the M9 and the Pentax-L (ltm) 43mm 1.9. This lens is relatively scarce and hard to find in ltm.

Some nice photos, Raid. I particularly like the fog scenes.

The FA-Pentax 43mm f/1.9 Limited is one of 'those special lenses' ... I almost hung onto a Pentax K10D body just to be able to keep shooting with it, bought a K-01 body just to be able to use one with, and then bought a Pentax K to M adapter so I could use it on the M-P or SL with the EVF.

The L-Pentax 43mm f/1.9 Limited I looked for several times over the past decade and could only find at outrageously high prices that I refused to pay. It would be a lovely addition to the M9 (or M-D) but for the absurd price. I'm sure it's a more pleasing focusing action ... the standard FA model is designed with a light, short-throw focusing mount for AF use which makes it a bit fiddly on the SL or M-P.

Focusing the lens is very easy to do. I bought this lens many years ago, and I just had it in some closet until I decided to use the lens again a few days ago.

I have the rarer silver version with the VF'er that I bought boxed at a not bad price.

You are correct that the focus throw is short. On the SL I find it feels more ergonomic than most M-lenses on a SL. Really not awkward.

We should hook up in milder weather some time so you can try it out. I find it to be an interesting lens.

I use a 35/135 LTM adapter because I discovered that the 135mm frame is the exact size of the middle rectangle if you imagine the "Rule of Thirds."

Pretty much no handicap for me not having 43mm framelines in an M-body.

On my 0.85 VF'er on my MP the 35mm frames were tight because I wear glasses, but the full frame along with the 135mm rectangle made framing very accurate.

I have the Pentax in the more common Pentax K mount and even that one, though being an AF lens, is a pleasure to manually focus.

I must say that I am surprised to see pronounced ( as a Sony A7 user I say much dreaded and very ugly ) magenta corners of the samples taken with the Nokton, specially in your post #5, also seen in some earlier samples. After all it is said that the M9 fares much better in this respect than e.g. Sony A7, and on my A7 I have only seen those when using rangefinder wide angles lenses, not on any photo taken with any of my RF 50mm lenses.
I don't see them on your samples taken with the Pentax L 1.9/43 ( and definitely not on those you show in a different thread taken with the Pentax M 1.4/50, a SLR lens ) and I don't have the Nokton and don't know how it behaves on the A7, but magenta corners of the 1.5/50 Nokton on the M9 surprise me nevertheless.

This is the original (old) Voigtlaender Nokton for the Prominent, and digital finishing can cause such "side effects".
