Over recent months lve mainly been using my Lumix GF2 and occassionally my Minox 35, although I have been shooting more most of it has been digital. I am now in somewhat of a quandry, do I keep my Pentax Kit consisting of two Lx bodies and the following SMC M series lenses, 40/2.8, 28/2.8, 50/1.7, 85/2 and the 100/2.8, or do l sell it all (rather than gather dust). If l sold it all l could use the funds elsewhere, or sell part of the set up and keep one Lx, a 40mm and the 85mm. In truth l have always had an lx in my photography arsenal, but is there any point in keeping them if I am heading down the Fuji digital route. Incidently, as SLR go, the LX is a masterpiece.

I could alway use any generated funds to get a fuji 35mm xf for my soon to arrive x pro 1

Unless you need the space or the funds, I would advise that you keep one anyway; clearly it is a camera that you enjoy and even if you're not using them much currently you may find that you want to do so later on and not having one then will be annoying at best.
(and, you wouldn't need to change your user name...🙂)

You shuld keep one. keep an LX and your favorite lenses. when your Xpro1 arrives, the lenses fir your LX will fit the fuji with an adapter. I bet they'd make a great pair for outings. I currently have a Sony NEX5N that I exclusively shoot with manual Pentax glass.

I say keep one. you'll really miss it if you let tgem both go.

True words and l would not have to be renamed as formerly known as lxmike

Wise words, l might just keep one

Don't have an LX here (just an ME Super) but IMO if you have no other film slr's around then keep at least one - if for no other reason than their marvelous viewfinder. Anytime I use the EVF on my m43 camera and go back to a BIG optical finder, it is always a delight and it makes me work just a little differently, seeing more through the camera.

keep one of them and the 40/85 or 50/100(my choice).

It's a great camera and not really going to take up much space or finances to hang on to.
You never know when the itch will strike. I just acquired another MX with 1.4/50 and 3.5/150mm .
I have plenty of Contax and OM gear for SLR's but... Pentax has a place in my heart too.

Good luck!

Hey lxmike; sell the Fuji... 😀

On a more semi-serious note, you have to keep one because it won't be the same if we have to call you fujimike. Besides, the LX viewfinder has to be one of the best in the world, if not the best.

Enjoy the day and take some photos! You might even try shooting some film.

Hi,

Is it your first digital? If so, I'd wait and see what you make of it before deciding anything. OTOH, I'd give you a fiver for one of the LX's any day...

Regards, David

I would say keep..

I continue to shoot film..it may not be as much as it had thought a couple of years ago. U can always use these lenses on the xp1 (1.5x fov factor), w/ a third party lens adapter. A 50 would end up a 75.

U could even use them on a digital Pentax dslr w/ the same 1.5x factor as well if u decide u like dslr better than mirrorless.

Conversely, if you ever need to rebuy the LX it will cost similar cash most likely. Makes sense to keeo one and a lens or two while selling some... it's a good compromise.

Thanks for all the reponses chaps, lve decided to keep one lx, a grip, the 40/2.8 and the 85/2, the rest l will pit up for sale, after all lm used to being called Lx mike not fujimike

You should be aware how little even great film cameras are worth!
The LX may be a pro camera, but I think no longer supported by Pentax.
The LX has a flaw in mirror mechanism..
I am a dedicated Pentax user, using them on many pro jobs.
Lenses of the PK mount can be used on Pentax DSLR.
I am not sure about the compatibility..what is lost/needed.
I have never used the LX.
Spotmatics,KM,K-1000,Me-Super,MX, all giving wonderful service.
I see you intend to keep one.
If the cameras are running well, no problems, they would not be a burden to keep both.
I am sure, even without support or services, they will outlast any digital..
It's just the nature of the "digital" beast.
