Pentaxians... Any out there?

I bought a nice Pentax K-mount kit last week. I think I got quite lucky buying a Super Program with a 28/2.8, 50/2.8 and 135/2.8. The camera and lens remind me the Olympus OM-system; small, light weight and well designed ergonomically. I really like focusing the lenses. Focusing is smooth and nicely dampened.

So anyone else using Pentax (M42-mount, K-mount, 645 etc.) camera and lenses? I am interest in others opinions. Share some photos too if you got them.

Congratulations! Pentax lenses since M42 days have been good and feel good in the hand (M42 and K series being favourites). As far as bodies go, the Super A/Program has a huge finder - a real treat after using DSLRs.

The Super Program is no slouch and some LXs have known issues. An MX as a good mechanical alternative is recommended. With a 35/2 or a 40/2.8 they are not far off Leica M size-wise. A Bessa case fits the MX and helps if you do not like the small size.

Pentax Spotmatic, ME Super, MX, KX, 645N, 6x7 and 67II. The main point about Pentax is the drawing of the lenses - super mellow stuff, great for portraits. The 645 N is the greatest bargain if you couple it to non autofocus lenses, such as 55/2.8, 75/2.8 or 105/3.5.

I've got my 1969 Spot from 1969, and many others including the Pentax 6x7. My 28mm f2.8 is autofocus but could be the sames as yours. It is my most used 35mm lens. I even have a Pentax mirrorless and a DSLR.

I came to Pentax in the late 1990's after five years using Canon then fifteen using Nikon.

I currently own Pentax KX, KM, K2, MX, ME-F, P3N and SP1000 bodies

A couple of ME SUpers and I just picked up an MX a couple of weeks ago. I like going out with the 28mm for the kick of the perspective.

The 50mm f/1.7 is an amazing value in lenses.

I suppose I could qualify as a "Pentaxian". An Asahi pentax Spotmatic was my first serious camera (many, years after they were the state of the art in photo gear and about the time I discovered Leica M cameras) and later I also discovered the fantastic early pre Spotmatic M42 cameras which I think are actually nicer to use being small and (in my opinion) much like a Leica LTM camera with a pentaprism added.

I then went on to acquire as many different M43 Takumar lenses as I could find - right from the very early non automatic lenses through the semi auto ones to the automatic super multi coated and late SMC ones. I have never owned a bad Takumar. The worst that can be said of them is that they have a tendency after all these years to have sticky apertures (to be expected perhaps). I still use some of my favourite Takumars on micro 4/3 cameras an Sony NEX bodies. And they turn in lovely results. None to share here unfortunately. I will have to see what I can do.

I have been working with my rangefinders quite a bit lately but the 645 has been getting a work out. When I pack it out the door it seems big, but when I start shooting it that all goes away. 🙂

I'm a relatively new Pentaxian, got myself a ME Super to start with, added a K1000 and now have a MX on the way. Lenses, I only have a 50mm f/2, 50mm f/1.7 and a 28mm f/2.8, all in K-mount. Will probably add a portrait lens eventually.

I have some interest in getting a 645 as well.

The original owner of two black body MX's bought back in 1983 along with the power winders...I didn't get the 50mm lens but opted for the Vivitar Series 1 35-85 and 70-210 lenses...I still have them and an ME SE and at one time have had a few ME Supers...
I also have the Spotmatic along with the 50mm 1.4, 28 3.5 and 35mm 3.5 Tak lenses and somewhere have picked up at least 3 of the 50mm 1.7 Pentax K mount lenses...
So there's been a Pentax in my closet for the last 30+ years...

I shoot a 645n and can't recommend that camera enough.

I've been a PENTAX fan for a few years now and translated a paper about the limited lenses a while back. Should be floating around somewhere. Maybe over at the PENTAX forum?

I've been shooting mostly Pentax since I started in 2008. I think I've owned and shot with nearly ever Pentax SLR made, and still own probably 20 Pentax film bodies. My favorites include the SV, SP-F, ME, MX, K2, MZ-L, ZX-5n, and my 67.
