I heard the clown. If you ask me, he was more likely to spook kids than we were. The parents spoke to me and told me that they did not mind pictures of the kids anyway. (Chubby? You're being charitable.)
Still, it's all part of why I find that sort of photography difficult.

I'll have my film tomorrow and hope to do the scans. Walking around like that, trying to manage that all manual camera and a hand held meter...I'm not overly confident. We'll see.

I too liked the M5. The rangefinder was sweet. Overall though, I'd have picked the M6...or the M8. In any case, I've not actually touched a M8 and even tripped the shutter twice. Now I'm entitled to start a thread about how wondeful or lousy it is...depending upon my mood.

im sorry i missed it but i dont think all the gear would have compared to hearing my babies heart for the first time...

it was kinda scary cause last week they couldnt hear the babies heart,turns out my kiddo is already good at hide and seek. but today it was normal and all is ok...😱

Very cool James! That's an opportunity you should never miss.

Let me pass on a cautionary tale told to me some years ago that I've found to be quite true.
"You spend the first year or so trying to teach that little darling how to talk, and you spend the rest of your life trying to teach him to shut the hell up."
Still, being a dad is great stuff.

I had a great time yesterday and would love to do it again.

James - Congrats on the new little one & hope to meet you next time.

I had to laugh at the clown when he told me not to get the children in the picture. My response was "OK" as I snapped the picture that I wanted anyway and then kept walking. Some people are just paranoid.

I'll get the roll of Fuji Acros 100 B&W developed tomorrow and see how everything turned out. (M5 & 50 Lux ASPH).

I am attaching few photos from the M8 & 35 Lux ASPH (coded) with the IR cut filter of the guys. Hope nobody minds.

Steve - I really think your gear will be just fine.😉 I'm interested to see some of the photos. That MF folder was cool.

Nick - Thanks for letting me play with the RolleiFlex, I have never seen one before in person and was just captivated. The M6 TTL and glass was also nice.

Andy - Cool RD-1 and Contax G2. I can now say that I actually handled the RD-1 also. What really suprised me was the G2 and how favorably impressed I was compared to all the poor comments about its auto focusing on the web. The G2 seemed very nice, quick, and flexible.

Great to meet you guys. It was interesting to see how different peoples tastes are in photography. Some great gear - I agree with Andy the M5 of Rays is a beautiful machine. Hopefully I can join you for more shooting next time.
Ted, I am in Tucson on a fairly regular basis, maybe we could meet up and share tips (by that I mean you teach me!).

Did my usual 15 miles today bicycling. Weather was of course sunny, no clouds, and 75 degrees. However, in a nostalgic way, I feel your pain. I lived in Montana for two years, just a few miles from the US/Canada border. Was a real wake up call for a kid from Southern California.

Hey right back at you 🙂 Actually, it's a question with a trick answer. Many visitors are lured to AZ by the nice "winter"weather and pretty pics of green resorts and the coveniences of a bustling metropolis (Phoenix). But let me tell you how it is - it's all a mirage... This place is still very much a desert, in every sense of the word. But mostly it is deserted of culture, deserted of civilization unless one counts fast foods and Circle-Ks, deserted of people on the streets unless one counts snowbirds in Sedona, lacking a sense of cummunity in most neighborhoods, and full of folks with an "El Dorado" mentality, the state of the "stupid driver" law,... I can keep going... Otherwise, it's a very nice place to come and visit, really 🙂

Geeze Andy...I don't think it's all THAT bad.
You have to look a bit harder to find, for instance restaraunts that aren't corporate, but such things exist and they are very very good.
This is a very young place (not even a State in the union till 1912). In that short time, really in the last 20-30 years, growth has made Phoenix the 5th largest metro area in the US. You're not exactly going to achieve/maintain any sort of old world flavor with that kind of explosive population growth.
