Leica LTM Perar Lens possible for LTM?

So, what happened to my other thread on the Perar lens? I dunno but, Jon, I am sure we can continue some sort of discussion on the possibility of a screw-mount lens....

I have seen a lot of photos of the lens, of the images made with this lens and even a video.

It is cool.:cool: Very. Both focal lengths.

So, now that the lens is in production for awhile, how hard would it be for a screw-mount edition to be produced? Would it take a minimum order to make it financially feasible?
 
Looks like your thread got deleted. What is left of it on Google cache does not really explain why, but whatever.

Anyway, the 35/f3.5 Perar is a screw-mount lens with a fixed M adapter, however the manufacturer says that it may require calibration to the particular camera - the main reason are probably the not really well-defined entry points of the screw threads on LTM cameras, the same reason why the 15/f4.5 Heliar with its built-in hood does not sit exactly vertically on all cameras.

I can imagine that one of the problems with the 28/f4 Perar would be the focusing lever that sticks out quite far while close to the body. The shorter lens register of M-mount compared to LTM means that in a LTM body it would sit even closer, and screwing it into some cameras with protruding self-timer levers etc. might create problems. So it would require a redesign of the focusing mechanism that would make the lens stick out more.
 
I also wondered about the other thread. Got deleted minutes after my last post, in which I recommended other and optically better solutions, including Color Skopar, Avenon, and Nikkor 28/3.5 lenses (all having less distortion and being not much larger).

Which Skopar? And where does one get those these days?
 
If you read the header for the lenses and optics subforum, you'll find out exactly why it went away. I'm not a mod, not sure why it's so strict, but there you go, I think that's what happened.

I think it would help if there was a dedicated "lenses and optics gear discussion" forum, so people wouldn't wonder where to talk about lenses.

As Frank posted a link (and seems to think non-moderators can see it), I rather doubt it has been moderated away. Well, maybe it has and there has been a glitch in communication among the mods, but it is just as likely that it vanished into some bug hole...
 
I can see the thread, didn't realize members could not. I believe that hteasley is correct. Wrong forum.

No problem...on pain meds, I coulda put it anywhere.:p

But delete? I dunno...I had to choose...discuss a unique lens on a leica m forum, or discuss the wished-for mount in screw-mount on the screw-mount forum, or put it in the lens/optics forum, or what? I chose wrong. I try hard to make sure my threads are on the right forums. :) Apologies.
 
To be honest, I'm confused on this as well, and I'm not even on pain meds. Sorry to hear about that!

Yeah, that's why I was suggesting a "lens discussion" forum. There are various camera-focused forums, but no lens-only forum (for discussion about gear, that is). This thread would ideally go there, and save you the confusion of picking a mostly-inappropriate camera forum to put it in.

Generally, forum admins are strong with the Force. They can do things like hide threads from non-Jedi, which, to us, is the same as deleting. The link will work for an admin, but not for normal folks.

Moderators can move threads instead of deleting them; this would seem the more obvious solution to the problem of a misplaced thread.

Anyway, whatever happened here, it was probably more of a technical problem than anything.
 
perar is a pain to use and costs arm/leg. I prefer older canon lenses for ltm bodies. Small,cheap and very good

+1 on that. I own a Canon Serenar 28/3.5 and a Serenar 35/3.2 and both are really small, while stellar performers. Really could not wish for anything else.
