I've just got a Perkeo E and - no surprise - the rangefinder needs adjusting. The top cover will probably have to come off, which I'm reluctant to do without getting some advice first.

Has anyone here adjusted one of these, and is it an easy job?

i adjust my self, i forgot the detail, but you can figure it out once you open the top cover. To open it, easy. turn ccw the big screw on the winding knob. Then you can lift up rewind knob. Underneath there is two small screw, remove it. On the top you have small screw on the flash shoe, remove it. Last is the screw in the right side. Once you are done removing screws, lift the top cover up. The rf assy is attached on the top plate. From there you can figure it out what to do next.

Somehow, on mine, the distance scale is not properly set. So i remove the rf, put my own sticker on the distance scale. Then i scale myself with measuring tape and a small pen. First i set the rf for infinity, the rf wheel need tobe at the most corner(stop). Then i measure/set object at 60ft, focus the rf on the object and mark the sticker, and so on until i reach 3ft. Indeed the scale is not the same with the one stamping on the wheel. This done with rf assy installed back on top plate and I need to remove the clear masking plate in top of rf scale to be able to mark the new distance. I really like the result from this tiny camera.. Compare to normal slr, this perkeo E is still smaller, yet it has bigger film area.

Hey, this is an old thread, but, thought I'd say thanks to pb908. It's always nice to know what one is getting into. I just adjusted the vertical alignment on my Perkeo rangefinder.

For anyone new to rangefinders (I'm pretty new), I'll note that the vertical adjustment (thus far -- Perkeo, Rapid Omega 100, Mamiya Super 23) has been a screw on the 45-degree angled mirror closest to the farthest window of the rangefinder.

On the Perkeo, it's a sizeble brass screw head. There are 2 tiny brass screws to either side that I thought I would need to loosen, to get slack. Well, I could not get a grip on the tiny heads, but, found the big adjuster turned enough to do the job.
