If "low contrast" of the RF patch with respect to the rest of the image, and leaving aside a replacement of the splitter (or dichroic) mirror, one possibe fix is to decrease the brightness of the main image. Try placing in front of the main V/F window a neutral density filter or a piece of fogged B/W film. Once you found the piece of film that is "just right" you can trim it to size and insert it permanently under the top cover. This worked for my Oly 35RC.
Cleaning might help, but the common wisdom is do not touch the semi-reflective mirror.
