Is there any interest in a Philadelphia Area Club? I know we were down this road before. I would be interested in organizing such a club if there is any interest. Please let me know.

Sounds like it could be interesting.

There was a post on here not too long ago by David Doler about an informal get together for the Philadelphia area RFFers. Hopefully that will take place in the not too distant future. I could always use an excuse to take my Bessa out for a coffee or two.

Bill

I'd be interested, but I'm about 60 miles away in Allentown, PA. Don't get out much because of parental responsibilities (3 year old son!).

Later,
Greg

David Doler's Post

David Doler's Post

I remember David's post, but nothing did come of it. If someone is willing to suggest a location and time, that would definitely move things in the right direction. I live in Malvern in the western suburbs. Where and when?

Count me in, I live 100 yds from the edge of the city, although I feel part Philadelphian due to all the city wage taxes I've paid over the years.

There was another thread on here about Philly RF'ers meeting and shooting, although that appears to never have reached the critical mass of 2.

Perhaps a way to start would be just post here when you are going to be out shooting and where you are going to be?

Also, perhaps there is a not-to-distant city event at which to shoot?

How about Saturday the 13th?

How about Saturday the 13th?

I'll be on a train trip to CT this weeked. How about meeting at 30th Street Station on the 13th?. (Inepta costs less to take from Wilmington than the parking tickets I get every time I drive into Philly... )

Al,

Count me in! How does 11:00 AM work. Not the best light, but there are always workarounds. Should we meet at the information booth in the center of the station?

Philadelphia RF Club

Philadelphia RF Club

I'd like to issue an open invitation to anyone in the Philadelphia area. I will be in 30th Street Station at the information booth from 10:00 AM to 11:00 on May 13th. Anyone interested please meet me there. I'm a bald guy with a moustache and a black camera bag in his mid fifties. I hope people come. I thought we might do some street photography around JFK Blvd or perhaps around the Art Museum and Boathouse Row, although I'm more than open to any other ideas. Let's get together, talk rangefinders and maybe bend an elbow!

I'll be there

I'll be there

I'll shoot for the early train, which should get me there around 10:30ish.

I'll wear my RFF hat also.

(I'll check back here next week and see how big a group we can attract.

Now, the big decision, which camera...

AL and I will be there. Come join us for some talking, walking, and shooting! And Al, bring whichever camera pleases you.

Jeff, your R-D1 would be reason enough for me to go, but I'll be busy with kids stuff. I'm sure you guys will find some friendly places to hang out, but there's always Doobies on 22nd and Lombard. I used to live right nearby, and my college German language club used to have our weekly "stamtisch" there. Friendly, great jukebox.

Jeder lieben samstag abend!

Langdon:

Sorry you can't make it! Maybe some other time. Anyone else in the Philly area who is interested, just wanted to let you know we'll be meeting between 10 AM and 11 AM at the information booth in 30th Street station. As an added inducement, I'll be bringing my new RD1. Come join us for a few hours of RF talk , photography, and to enjoy Philly.

Jeff et al,

Me and my R2a should get there around 10:30 or so depending on what kind of track work SEPTA decides to do that weekend. I don't know of any "events" going on but there are always plenty of possibilities in Philly.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Bill, Al and I will be meeting at the 30th Street Station Information booth between 10:00 and 11:00. Anyone else in the area is welcome. See everyone on Saturday!

See you there!

See you there!

Let's hope we can shoot between the raindrops.

BTW, any decent second-hand camera shops in the Center City area ? One never knows when a GAS attack will happen...

I'll be there, Al. As far as GAS goes, there's Calumet which is quite a hike from 30th street and Webb Camera. Webb's site can be found here

They are a ZI dealer, and have a very nice used collection generally. Unfortunately, they sell the ZI for about $200 more than Cameraquest or Popphoto.

Bill from Hatboro also mentioned earlier that he'd be there, but he hasn't confirmed yet this week.

Bill from Hatboro will be there rain or shine.

I live in philadelphia, too, but I can't come tomorrow. Let me know how the get-together goes. I'll definitely come if you guys have another meeting.

Jeff

Al and Bill:

See you both at the information booth tomorrow between 10:00 and 11:00. I'll be dropping my daughter off earlier that morning at Moore. So I should get to 30th Street between 10:00 and 10:20. I'm a tall, old bald guy with a mustache and a black camera case. Looking forward to meeting you both!

Should we try for a fall meet?

Should we try for a fall meet?

Just wondering if we should try again. I need more photos of the Reading terminal market...
