I had the opportunity to look at Vietnam Inc, and was impressed to my bones.
I lended the book to a friend, and lost both forever. But I still remember that great picture of Grifiths in that small canoe from which he shot an ancient Vietnamese navigating with him over the river.
Grifiths was not the kind of photographer walking with or behind the soldiers.
The avovequoted Magnum very well written obituary, informing me about the existance of his "Viet Nam at Peace", published by 2005, has left me with a great desire to have such a book, since the fate of that country arises my curiousity. And I don't think I could ever find better glasses than Grifiths' images.
Yes, I have not specially followed Grifiths life, but after seeing Vietnam Inc, I am not surprised this book was defined at Magnum's obituary as his "iconic" creation.
There is so much in our world yet to see and feel, with the net, TV etc throwing on us so much, that some times you don't know where to run first. This thread, starting from an extremely unfortunate event, has been very usefull for me in this context.
