Photo contest at library
AYER -- The Ayer Public Library kicks off its first communitywide photography contest this summer, offering valuable prizes to entrants who submit the best pictures depicting the contest theme, "Picture Yourself Reading."
Noted area artists and photojournalists will judge the entries considering both artistic merit and the photo's ability to promote the importance of books, reading and literacy.
The contest deadline is Friday, Aug. 12, at 6 p.m.
Categories for children, teens and adult photographers include still life, people and portraits, nature, architecture as well as conceptual works encompassing fantasy, abstraction and surrealistic interpretations of the theme.
Photographers may use any type of camera. Manipulated or digitally enhanced works will also be considered.
Photographs may be of any size, in color or black and white, but should not be mounted or framed.
A completed registration form must be submitted with each entry. These forms are available at the library, 26 East Main Street.
For information, call the library at (978) 772-8250.
