Photo vest redux...

If it's good enough for Brad I don't see the problem ... and before you go saying "he has no taste" ... think about Angelina!

:D

I don't think this one counts as wasn't this for a role where he played a PJ? Some movie where he was actually a spy but his cover was as a PJ.
If you show me a paparazzi shot where he wore one in his "public" persona then it counts.

I love vests for daily wear whether I'm shooting or not. I think I have four photo type vests and another five or six leather or similar vests. One of my photo vests is actually a jacket with zip off sleeves and a snap off hood. They're comfortable and I have one for every occasion. I've used a vest for my photo work for 4 decades and love having the pockets to stuff a meter, lenses, papers, filters, memory cards, film, film holders and backs and trash. My sharpie and pen are at hand when I need them. For me it has nothing to do with a look. it's all comfort and business. I even have one I wear when I'm doing a celebrity shoot. I have the celeb autograph the back. They love it when they see the other names on it. They will often add comments. I've done this for the past fifteen years but wish I had done it from the beginning.

The fact that an actor (or at least, movie star) is a constant referent in the jacket threads is quite revealing. Who is more interested in taking pictures, and who is more interested in 'looking cool'?

Cheers,

R.

I want to look cool!

Just one more reason not to wear a photo vest.

Some people here seem to pull it off though, commendable. I'd look like (more of ) a fool.

Btw, the best part of that movie was the Leicas....

I like the practicality of a vest but I look like a Dick in one, however I still use the Domke vest in 100+F temperature’s here. It’s been washed so often it’s looking a bit worn and ragged.

I guess it helps a little if you look like Brad Pitt but sadly not a lot of us do! :D

Unfortunately I look more like Lofty from “It ain’t half hot Mum”, that’s if you can remember that far back...

I do ... brilliant show and I loved the opening theme song. 'Whispering Grass' from memory?

Ha! Thanks, I do what I can to class the joint up. ;)

Actually, I have to wear a business suit for my day job, so much of the time it's just more convenient to go directly from the office to shooting events, etc. The side benefit is that people (in my world, anyway) tend to treat you w/a lot more respect when you're wearing a suit. Also, my 2 favorite photographers, Cartier-Bresson & Eggleston, were/are able to look snazzy while shooting (I'm sure being independently wealthy helped/helps a lot in that department).

Now I'm not surprised that you said that! I've seen some photo's of your goodself and 'dapper' is not the half of it. :p

The OP seems to pull the vest look off... most don't. Though I will say that old men look better in these vests than 20 year olds.
