photo vest?

Sorry Rover,
Despite what some of the Fab 5 might think, I'll still wear mine ~ ; - )

And the front pocket comfortably hold my S&W too ~ ; - 0

You are talking about QE for the SG right? I have only watched it a few times. Have you ever noticed that the "experts" on the make-over shows all look like "before" pictures?

Rover,
The only "problem" is that most in our society perceive anyone who doesn't follow "Trends" and "Fashion sense" as less than Normal.
Others dress comfortably, use what works (functions) best and are self-confident enough not to sweat about the Media's standards of dress.
I don't consider that a "problem".
Do what makes you feel comfortable and enjoy ~ ; - )
But also don't judge "books by their cover", eh?

kbg32,
I know this might be hard to believe, but some of us dress for ourselves and don't give damn what "GQ" or anyone else thinks ~ ; - )

Why would I think this is hard to believe? Good or bad, whose to say, we do think about what we are going to wear.

Have fun. Lighten up.

:D

BTW- I wounldn't pay for a Domke, I got mine on-line for $29.
I've never been to an Opera, don't ever want to, thanks.
I have been to a Merle Haggard and Leon Redbone concert though
~ ; - )

Don't know about Merle, but had the pleasure of an evening's music with Leon at the old Bottom Line.

Great show.

Keith,
Yes, Leon is a fantastic showman, besides being one of the coolest New Orleans Jazz singers ever.
He played our little Olympia Theater last year, a night to remember.
He wears a vest too ~ ; - ) ROFLMAO

peter_n,
Sorry the links not working .... to Bonehead - LOL.

I don't think anyone even sees you. Vest or not. So if you wear one remember there are people with Budweiser Jackets, Nascar jackets, NFL, NBA , NHL , MLB , corporate clothes, goths, stylistas, ........ and on, so you will hardly be noticed for clothes.
Interesting that Kuvvy sez that he wears one to carry a load of film stuff and save a shoulder. I agree. Carrying bags means searching thru them for stuff, film, whatever. However if you don't have that stuff why bother with either? I've seen some shoulder bags for bigger tickets than vests. Do what ya want. Live dangerously.

Jan

"Live dangerously"
I wonder what that means to different people?
Wear a peice of apperal that's not "in"? Using a 40 year old RF instead of a DSLR.
Or skydiving, rappelling a 200 ft. cliff, driving in LA ..... - LOL.
:D

h*,
i see this has affected you some.
i brought it up because when i wear the vest, my friends always kid me and ask if i'm going fishing.
the vest has saved me a few times, the local newspaper shooters sometimes wear vests and a few times i was 'caught' somewhere i wasn't supposed to be but the local constables thought i 'belonged' there cause i had a vest on and was carrying a really big lens. lucky, eh?

anyway, i'm gonna hang the vest up again and look at it ocasionally.
joe

I wear mine quite often when on vacation. My wife says I look like a tourist, but isn't that what I am? It's especially comfortable in warm climates -- I'll wear the vest with no shirt. If I'm carrying only one camera I usually get along without it, but one of the beautiful things about a rangefinder is you can easily carry two or three cameras. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Joe,
Not a problem.
It just pushs my buttons when I hear someone denigrate others because of how they look, rather than dealing with what kind of person they are inside.
I know you meant it in jest, but sometimes it's too easy for people to "go along" with negative comments and "fit in" rather than speak up.
It's a pet peeve.
Sorry if it offended you, my friend. :)

no offense taken on my part.
i was thinking i may have offended you and that was certainly not my intent.

i liked the vest at one time and really never cared what i might look like in it.
i think my style of shooting has changed and i don't really need it any longer. no more motor drives, long lenses or heavy zooms etc.

anyway, it's the weekend, let's get out there and shoot something.

I once went to a press lunch years ago when I was a photo editor for a travel magazine. It was given by Olympus if memory serves me well. The folks from Modern Photography were there. Out of all do respect, lets say it was embarrassing to look at these guys and leave it at that.

Leave the vest at home in the closet. Give it to charity.

:)

Embarrasssing indeed. I just throw an extra roll of Neopan 400 in my pocket, and ambulate away. Don't forget the ATM card, for rehydrating oneself with focusing fluid....
Russ

Russ,
I'm curious. Why would it embarass YOU to see how someone else dresses?
Empathy?

Joe if you ever decide to sell the vest , I might buy it for fishing because that is something I do too.

cheers, Jan

PS I still think you should keep it and use it. They are perfect examples of "form equals function"
