The only "problem" is that most in our society perceive anyone who doesn't follow "Trends" and "Fashion sense" as less than Normal.
Others dress comfortably, use what works (functions) best and are self-confident enough not to sweat about the Media's standards of dress.
I don't consider that a "problem".
Do what makes you feel comfortable and enjoy ~ ; - )
But also don't judge "books by their cover", eh?

Yes, Leon is a fantastic showman, besides being one of the coolest New Orleans Jazz singers ever.
He played our little Olympia Theater last year, a night to remember.

I don't think anyone even sees you. Vest or not. So if you wear one remember there are people with Budweiser Jackets, Nascar jackets, NFL, NBA , NHL , MLB , corporate clothes, goths, stylistas, ........ and on, so you will hardly be noticed for clothes.
Interesting that Kuvvy sez that he wears one to carry a load of film stuff and save a shoulder. I agree. Carrying bags means searching thru them for stuff, film, whatever. However if you don't have that stuff why bother with either? I've seen some shoulder bags for bigger tickets than vests. Do what ya want. Live dangerously.

Wear a peice of apperal that's not "in"? Using a 40 year old RF instead of a DSLR.

i see this has affected you some.
i brought it up because when i wear the vest, my friends always kid me and ask if i'm going fishing.
the vest has saved me a few times, the local newspaper shooters sometimes wear vests and a few times i was 'caught' somewhere i wasn't supposed to be but the local constables thought i 'belonged' there cause i had a vest on and was carrying a really big lens. lucky, eh?
anyway, i'm gonna hang the vest up again and look at it ocasionally.

I wear mine quite often when on vacation. My wife says I look like a tourist, but isn't that what I am? It's especially comfortable in warm climates -- I'll wear the vest with no shirt. If I'm carrying only one camera I usually get along without it, but one of the beautiful things about a rangefinder is you can easily carry two or three cameras. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I know you meant it in jest, but sometimes it's too easy for people to "go along" with negative comments and "fit in" rather than speak up.
It's a pet peeve.

i was thinking i may have offended you and that was certainly not my intent.
i liked the vest at one time and really never cared what i might look like in it.
i think my style of shooting has changed and i don't really need it any longer. no more motor drives, long lenses or heavy zooms etc.
anyway, it's the weekend, let's get out there and shoot something.
