is it just me, or are there a lot more of these "best photobooks of the year" lists/awards than usual?

is it just me, or are there a lot more of these "best photobooks of the year" lists/awards than usual?

And they all seem to list the same books, which perhaps they should, but if so why do it?
My feeling is it was not a vintage year for current work but pretty good for re-issues and retrospectives eg the Winnogrand which I found very informative and enjoyed as well (not necessarily always the same thing).


BTW Just placed :The Photobook: a History: vol.3 on pre-order.

Thanks for the copyright reminder and the insightful remarks. Yes with each passing year there seems to be more and more such lists. Wonder if it will help photobooks to gain more mainstream acceptance.
