Photographer or "Image Maker".....Which are you?

Being a "Photographer" has many interpretations.

The right question is, what kind of "Photographer."

Some photographers see the end result of their "work" on the LCD at the back of their digital cameras. Some only are satisfied when they make an elaborate montage or series of image manipulations using digital means.

Some photographers see the end result when they see a print, any prints made from their negatives. Some sees the negative as a raw thing that needs to be "cooked" for hours and days until "balance" comes through.

Now, on the other hand, most people with cameras, who took pictures just for the sake of remembering things (in their mind), without an effort spent to finish their "work" are not photographers, they are casual snap-shooters.

... clear as mud? :D

A photographer is a person who takes a photograph using a camera. A professional photographer uses photography to make a living whilst an amateur photographer does not earn a living and typically takes photographs for pleasure and to record an event, place or person for future enjoyment.

Photographers are often categorized based on the subjects they photograph. Some photographers explore subjects typical of paintings such as landscape, still life, and portraiture. Other photographers specialize in subjects unique to photography, including street photography, documentary photography, fashion photography, wedding photography, war photography, photojournalism and commercial photography.

Paparazzi are photographers who take candid photographs and, quite commonly, pre-arranged photographs made to appear candid, of celebrities.

I don't know. Some take more and some less work. Even snaps of the family are quickly made ready for album prints. It's just part of the process.
