Photographing Police

My last two shots of New York's Finest. My respect for the difficulty of this job has never waned. These shots don't date me, do they, running around with my SRT-101?

I wanted to grab some shots of these cops grabbing a burger and so I went up to them and said "mind if I just take a few pics of you getting lunch?" they were like "no, you're going to get us in trouble." Like they seemed genuinely concerened they were going to get yelled at for eating a burger.

When they are focused on arresting shirtless, shoeless [alleged] arsonists, police are often less bothered by using photographing them. Also, they have every reason to be proud in times like the situation pictured here when they're protecting us.

Though, somehow, this perp seems to have stepped out of more than one pair of shoes.

And, they had him significantly out-numbered...

Policemen are the worst photo object - both visually and artistically to me but I do have something to share with the police:

Oh we do? I don't consider myself a testosterone ridden 2m 100kg guy. Actually, my body does produce testosterone, I am 6'2" and 205 lbs. I also work with many other officers of varying height, weight and gender. You can take my photo anytime.

Well, with all due respect to our guys I'd bet an arm and a leg that your officers with the same rank as ours passed 3x the training and education. I just don't feel like snapping photos of a guy with 3months training and 2 months education that can go on a power/test trip any time... Remember i'm not from the US, what your media would call a scandal if a teen was tazered our would call provoking police and asking for it, and I had my fair share of interaction with the blue force in my younger/soccer "fan" years :D.

I at one Time liked shooting Police (pun intended)...NYC Officers have such Great Character or so I thought
but now that I must appear in Court the 22 of May ...my Interest now has TOTALLY gone (forever) !

I went to this really cool architectural place in Scottsdale to shoot the sights (attached), and there were two police SUV vehicles there (AZ cops seem to favor the intimidating SUV over the low gas consumption cars) so before shooting, I approached them. "Do you mind if I do some photography here?", I asked.

"No, that's fine, but don't put us in the picture.", the male cop said. Then they both got into their Suburbans and left. I would have wondered why they didn't want to be pictured, because they were a living advertisement for the city's police force - a strapping young man, and very attractive blonde woman in her late 20s, wearing a nicely fitted uniform.

But the way they kissed before mounting their vehicles and driving off informed me as to the reason they didn't want to be photographed ... But man, wouldn't that have made a killer photo!
