I was a little away from RFF because of major great changes in my life. In this period big clashes occurred for a park in Istanbul. Some of you followed the developments from RFF threats:

In this period some RFF member contacted by me directly or indirectly and cared about me and other RFF members living in Istanbul. Also they offered help in some ways. I have to thank you not only these members but also whole RFF family.

In the first days of the clashes I couldn't take photographs because I didn't have stock film in my bag and I had to pass police barricade, which was impossible that days, for reaching my local film store. I started to take photograph at the 8th day of the protests. A few days later unfortunately it turned to be photographic safari for the photographers and it was really annoying and terrible. For this reason I stopped to take photography about 15 days and after that started to take again.

I developed all films and scanned them. I want to share some of images from Gezi. Note that, you probably saw lots of photographs taken in the clashes. In below series I just want to give who are these people and what was going on in the park during occupy. Here the images:

Great images Taylan.
Having lots of photographers around you can be annoying, but once you realize that, like you did, you took original images that no one else took, it can be even more rewarding.
Well done!

Thanks Taylan for posting these, great shots and very inspiring!

I really hope that the struggles made more people in and outside Turkey aware that there is injustice, in Turkey as well as the rest of the world. And, that police and government after the clashes have not come down too hard on citizens...

Actually my main problem wasn't the number of photographers. The problem was their attitude towards the people. I saw some people who write "Don't take photograph" on a piece of cardboard and put in front of their tents. Also I am not just a photographer. I am also an activist and being photographer is a just a part of my identity. My activist side hated my photographer side at that days. I just sat down in front of tent and attend to the forums e.t.c.

You are just right, but we are living in a cruel world 🙂
