Photography and privacy

This isn't rangefinder specific, but here's an interesting article about a lawsuit against Philip-Lorca diCorcia. The plaintiff alleged that diCorcia invaded his privacy by surreptitiously photographing him in Times Squae.

'Art' Photo Is Not Subject to Privacy Law, Judge Finds

So, on a story that proves that you CAN take photos we're going to start another one of these threads! 😡

Let's all let this one die now!

Just thought the forum would be interested in the article. Wasn't trying to start anything, just trying to inform.

Was it simply the surreptitious photograph or the subsequent display of the image that motivated the plaintiff to sue? The plaintiff didn't even realize he'd been photographed until he learned of the exhibit.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing.

My favorite quote from the article "New York courts have recognized that art can be sold".

I remember reading about this case when it was initiated. Glad to hear it worked out well. Thanks for the update.

Thank you Troym for the article. I found it worthwhile and had been wondering about just the same issues as had been discussed in the case. Being new here I'm unaware of other posts on the subject that may have been on the forum, so it was helpful to me.
