Photography and Text?

Hi all, I have been working on a project that brings together language text and photography. Any other folks do you know of who are doing this work in the rangefinder world. I know art photography has been doing this since modernism, but just wondering about social doc photo projects out there. I need some inspiration, oh and a nikon film scanner too!

What kind of text/photography combination are you thinking of? Word and image within a single frame? Word complementing image? Image complementing word? Or the photojournalistic bent: social doc, as you say?
Just wondering.

I don't know whether you're from the U.S. or from somewhere else, but one of the most famous American social documents was a joint photographic/book project by Walker Evans and James Agee called "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men." Radical then, still pretty radical now.
