Did anyone use SX70 films in the I-1 ?
Just curious to know if exposure compensation could be enough to compensate the different iso value of the films.
I would like to use some of the films I have in house before buying new ones...

I did one experiment using the Manual Control app and setting exposure manually. I'll load up another pack after the current pack is exhausted and see what the automation does.

I'll try tomorrow a color pack, not the .2 but an older one to see what happens, planning a few double exposures...

To answer my own question I did a quick test this morning, from met terrace. SX 70 film (old prediction, before the 2.0) with the switch on the camera set to overexpose, sunny day exposure is acceptable. Colors are a little soft but I find this a characteristic of Impossible Color Film (just my idea). Sorry no scan possibility at the moment.

During my recent trip in Germany I took my new I-1 with me. I have no time to scan all the shot but as "preview" this is one shot on the motorway (I was driving, my wife shot, safety first!) on an expired Nigo Special Edition by Impossible.

I agree with Huss. For the money they charge the quality is not as good as it should be. Last time I checked this is a forum where people express their opinion. You would think someone with 7k posts would know that.
 
The i-1 idea has been abandoned...Polaroid is now selling more conventional cameras but with the technical features of the i-1 like controls via app etc etc.

I still use my i-1 (which I paid much more than the actual BV&H price 🙁
...nice to see this thread resurrected...I'll post a few pics but in these days not much time to scan...

I don't think photography is art!
Nor is painting, sketching, sculpture or any of the so called fine arts..
It may become "Art" in years, decades or generations..
Art is now domain of art dealers pushing hoo-hah as investments..

The "Impossible" film fades, has weird colors, faults in manufacture..
Results are not "art" but garbage.
I gave up on original "SX-70" prints..
Expensive, really expensive and waiting ages to see final print..
It changed over many hours.

Enjoy photography, professional gigs or for selfish pleasures..
 
@Leicapixie: I disagree. But whatever works for you ... instant film doesn't suit everyone's desires or needs. I continue to use my Polaroid SX-70 and 600 instant film cameras and enjoy the results out of them. I still use my I-1 as well, although not as often as the Polaroid SX-70 and MiNT SLR670 derivatives of the SX-70. They all make very nice photos.

The I-1's primary flaw was its poor power*system design—it never holds a charge for more than a day or two so it's often not ready to use without a lengthy charge up time unless you're using it every day. It's essentially the same flaw with the 66/6 Instant Pinhole and Instant Lab cameras from Impossible. Despite this flaw, I've gotten good results with all of them.

I've got a new stack of instant film prints to scan sitting on my desk. Perhaps I'll have time to get to that today or tomorrow. 🙂

Godfrey, I too had a few nice prints..from SX-70.
I thought the camera was the ultimate.
The high cost of material cannot be ignored..
The poor quality of "Impossible" and also "Lomo" may be a joy to others,
but I prefer to know what I "may" get..
Film is a gamble but can give great joy.
Impossible is like a "rigged" gamble..

I'm with Godfrey on this point, if I desire "high image quality" I use a digital or a film camera. If I desire quality and instant photography I'll go the Fuji Instax route.

When I desire a free wheel interpretation I go Polaroid/Impossible. I know it can be a risky way 🙂 but I like it.

And I can understand other photographers have different priorities, it's nice to have options !
