On a short term; the next few weeks after the mid tern election, it's in the cards that the dollar will increase somewhat. The future destiny is dependant on the policies the president is capable of implementing. 'The sky has fallen in' regarding the value of the dollar. Just a few years back it was valued at almost NOK 10, now only NOK 5,80. Many fear that it just might 'fall in' again.

No need to worry about the economy. The Republicans have won control of the house tonight. The economy will improve once they start giving tax cuts to the rich!

Don't laugh about the Laffer curve, it's an article of faith among conservatives that decreasing taxes will increase government revenue!

Of course the Fed's stated weak dollar policy and announcement of intent to pump $600 Billion into the market has nothing to do with it, I am sure.

Of course, that is the $600 Billion and it has been no secret that Bernanke currently sees a weak dollar as desirable.

I have heard about that such quantitative easing was planned, but not that it was implemented. I see from news spots that it is now rally on. But don't forget that a lot of nations are printing up large volumes of their currencies in an effort of 'kickstarting the economy', saving jobs' and 'supporting people with high debt' and so on... 'Everybody' is racing to the bottom.
600 B$ Holy sh...!

It was formally announced the day after the election and I am sure the printing presses were immediately fired up to pump that in at a rate of $75 Billion/month.
One can only guess what the long term strength of the dollar will be, but I don't see any new Leicas in my near future...
