I am going to Budapest, Hungary in the fall, does anyone know if there are some good camerashop's, especially for FSU-camera's in Budapest ?

Hi Per,
First of all Hello to everybody, this is my first post. I know only three good shops here around:
1. Soós: V. distr., József Attila 22. (metro crossing-point "Deák tér", upstairs, cross the Erzsébet square towards the Basilica, on the left side, about 150 m) Used equipment on shop's homepage here, and it's web auction here (Hungarian only, sorry).
2. OptiCam: V. distr., Bajcsy-Zsilinszky 20. (behind, after the Basilica, about 500 m from Soós) Used equipment found here (Hungarian only, sorry).
3. Fényképész műterem: V. distr., Kálvin tér 2. (the blue (2.) metro line stops there, 20 m towards the Szabadság bridge on right hand side) Big mess, construction, but still opened. No homepage.

As far as i noticed (i am not from Budapest but go there quite a lot), FSU gear is slightly overpriced there. Or maybe more than slightly.
But do check out the shops, maybe you find a gem.

Here in DK i think it is impossible to find any photoshops at all, having any FSU gear available.
To mee it is the price on Ex. Ebay (Incl. mailservice) that is the comparable.

Thanks for that from me, too, Veloman. I will be in Budapest myself in October so I'll make a note on my map, too.
I'll also be in Pragh. I am interested too, to know if I will find bulk Efke film in Croatia about the same time. Sounds silly to say, but unless you know where to go it can be frustrating to visit these places, knowing there 'has' to be good photo shops but you can't find them.

Overpriced? Maybe, never looked elsewhere. Compared to the bay its cheaper, you don't have to pay 15-20 $ for shipping, you can hold it in your hand. Fed-2s are about 10-20 euros depending on the shape. Zorki-4 for 6-25. A Zorki-C goes for 20-30 euros. The Kievs start with 20.
Myself paid until now: for colored Fed-2s (green, blue, red) 15-30 euros, a Fed-5 (for the zebra I-61 L/D) 5 euros, Jupiter-12 cca. 17, 35mm finder 6 euros (good deal!). My highest bill (in a local auction) was for the Jupiter-9, 32 euros.
Some say that at the local flea market one might find a gem, but can't affirm, been there only four times (as stated, recently infected...). By the way, the flea market (the smaller one) is beside the Petőfi hall (Pecsa), in the City Park (Városliget), on every Saturday, Sunday morning.

Prices: the problem is that all these shops/owners have internet connection, thus they know the actual "street price". You have to be patient, to get what you are looking for. I'm in Fed-2, and was lucky to get the dark blue bodied really cheap only because - I think that - the shop didn't notice that it wasn't a black one!

Havent been to Budapest but found a few good shope in Prague
a couple of years ago. The best shop I found in Czech was out east
in the small city of Olomouc (sp). Loads of Leicas going cheap... but
could have been Feds or Zorki's.... he he

Hi - just got back from Budapest on sunday.
I got exactly what i was loking for, i really wanted a J9 and a revolving finder and found both at "Opticam".
The J9 was about 40 Euro and the finder about 20 Euro, i think this was a good price for both.
Because i am not afraid of SLR's i also bought a Zeiss-Icarex with a 35 mm "Skoparex" lens, this went for about 60 Euro at "Soos".
I will return when i have some experience with the new equipment.

To say indeed, Budapest is far better than my expectations, a very beautiful city and a very nice and friendly place to go.
And thanks to Veloman for the good advice, but sorry if you also had an eye for the J9. I got it last wednesday (i think) wonder if you have been lurking around in the city last week, we might have met without knowing !
