The rental camera arrived yesterday - it was cold, dark and dreary, but since it wasn't raining I took it out for an hour after work until the light completely tanked.

These are all lightly edited JPEGs out of the camera. The color stuff is using the Velvia profile (yow!) and the monochrome are B&W+Y. I need to look at the other color profiles - Velvia at factory defaults is more than a little intense. All image controls are at default.

I *love* working with this camera. I immediately felt at home with it, and the ability to switch back and forth between OVF and EVF is great. I fear for my wallet, although I will probably hold out for a black version.

These are from that first dreary hour in no particular order; more to follow over the next week before the camera goes back.

You did very well with your rental on a first time out. At the rate X100s cameras are showing up for sale here in stores, a black version may be available sooner!

I got anxious and found mine at a really good price with Int'l Warranty frrom a shop out of Dublin, Ireland.

Wow... you do know how to make the little Fuji sing... Mine just yelps in comparison... Really NICE work! Is this downtown Aurora? The very first looks familiar (that corner... I think I photographed a young guy, sans dog and guitar) in or near that spot.
 
Hi, Francisco - thanks! No, these are all in downtown Naperville close to work. Only about ten minutes from my office.

A powerful statement that we have too high of a gear budget!
 
I was wondering how long it would take for B&H to get them back in stock - it looks like I will have it some time next week, just in time for the warmer weather and later light.
 
The colours are very pleasing Ken.

I got to hand it to Fujifilm, they do give you what they promise.
 
Yeah, they are just a bit saturated, aren't they?

I may actually stick with the Velvia simulation as my standard for color, I can always desaturate as needed. I also occasionally enjoy creating simulated hand coloring using a desaturated image and a history brush. Yes, it's a cheap parlor trick, but I'm a cheap kinda guy. ;)
 
Fellow suburban Chicago resident checking in. I has the xp1, xe1, and x100s. I miss the x100s the most. Considering another one or an M8.
