Really nice work with the GFX cameras Mike, first I recall seeing it (haven't been around the site for a bit). 😊Maborikaigan

Thank you, David, much appreciated. I had noticed that you started posting again; nice to see you back at RFF.
All the best,

These days I'm happiest when I'm at the seaside with a GFX camera on a tripod and I'm trying to get the best exposure time for the sea conditions.

These, like your other black and whites from this camera are fantastic. Have you, or anyone else in this thread or with one of these cameras, seen any banding in b&w conversions from the gfx cameras? DigLloyd reported them, although he also showed them from the Sony A1. It makes sense that they can appear periodically in phase detection sensors where some pixels are measuring focus on the sensor, not image forming light, but how common is it?Some more from Sheffield General Cemetery. GFX 100S. 35-70mm kit lens.

Agree. The Stock Acros profile is very good with some tweaking to taste in Lightroom you can really make your own film stock if you will... It makes me not miss B&W film much at all. Its really that good. Coming from someone who has shot his fair amount of B&W film the past close to 30 years.Unreal quality for a kit lens.
The general look is that of my 4x5 tri-x images. They have a lovely feel to them.
Quite the opposite to most digital black and white. Which I would guess is more your processing than the camera.
Really nice.

No so far I have not encountered this. I will update if this happens at some point in the future.

I've been experimenting with high contrast lighting for portraits using the GFX and my ugly mug as a model. I am just using the modelling light of the strobe through a soft box with no reflector and the 10 second self timer. High ISO and black paper background. The high ISO noise looks quite good but you have to blow up the images a lot to see it. This is with the 63mm lens.

It's great. I was thinking of getting the manual Mitakon which is well regarded as a cheaper option, but I am glad this was on sale. I don't use manual lenses much these days because of my eyes. AF is so much easier when you are older...Nice! Looks good to me...How do you like that 80?

I agree that there is something special about the GFX files for BW and the lenses are fantastic. It would be good to see more examples in the thread.Very nice! I took have the 63 it’s magic with B&W… I’ve done still life’s with it as well. Maybe I’ll post some… There is an “it” factor to me…
