Hi,
A minor point is, of course, that London was a battle field for many years (5 years: 194 - 45) during WW2 but there's little to show for it now. If you look around there are pointers to the battle (air raid shelters) throughout Greater London.
And every house had an Anderson or Morrison shelter. This old git can remember sleeping in them at night and running to them during the day when there was an air raid. I had a look on Google to see if they still existed but couldn't see one although I've been told that the ones I looked for still exist behind undergrowth and so on.
For London the battle in the skies ended in 1945 when the last of the V1's or V2's landed. Again, something I can still remember vividly and more so as I get older. And, like the French, we have kept some of the damage on view as a reminder. This is interesting: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-20637222

Am I forgetting anything?

I'm starting to get travel-itis and lenswishing...so I have a couple of questions.
The main purpose of this trip is that it is my sons "vacation of a lifetime." I want him to have fun. He's a big history buff (so am I).
1. My plan is to take my Oly EM5, a bower 7.5, the 14-42 kit, the 40-150 f4 zoom and a 17 1.8. My Panny LX-5 will serve as back-up..will this cover me?
I keep thinking I should take a 25mm (50) or 45 (90) with me too????
2. Where to stay in Paris??? Any suggestions? He just wants to see the tourist sites...eiffel tower, arc de triumphe, Notre Dame. Someplace Safe, conveniant to the Metro, $125/night?
Thanks for all your help...and of course...I'll post pictures from the trip

No need for adding those primes... too much hassle. The less stuff one lugs around the more relaxed one can be. I would also leave the 40-150/4 home. It may not be a huge, heavy lens... but exactly how would you use it with m4/3 for this sort of trip? My advice is to think about how to limit the stuff you take by considering each item's inconvenience (weight/space) to reward ratio.
I've now nothing about Paris (sadly). But even with the US $ at an historic high versus the Euro $125/night sounds impossible for any place I'd take a son.
ps: you have inspired me to seriously consider a similar trip in 2016nwith my grandson. Thanks for that.

Back from our Trip!
Hey folks,
Just a little update on our trip....Had a little problem getting over to Berlin, arrived 12 hours late. Only had 1 day in the city, but we made the most of it.
Went to Liege/La Gleize/Bastogne, then to Paris, then to Bayeux (normandy). Had to stay in Paris a night because of the Calais dock workers strike at the Eurostar tunnel.
Couple days in London/duxford/Hendon/Abbey Rd and then finished in Bovington (Tank Fest).
Saw a little bit of a lot of things.
I used mostly kit zooms and the LX-5 (which I love).
Thanks for all your help.
Three shots:
1. My son contemplates the trip during his first train ride from Berlin to Liege. Panny LX-5.
2. A worshipper choses a candle at Notre Dame in Paris. Oly Em-5 w/14-42.
3. A girl waits on her Metro car to arrive-Paris. Panny LX-5
