Now that will never happen. Just look at how (un)successful the Hexar RF was. I own one, love it, but Konica is dead and buried and I'm sure the failure of this camera inched Konica a little closer to its demise.

I once gave a new Cosina/Bessa/Voigtlander R2 a chance. During the first week the film advance lever jammed. I knew right then the paradigm was shifted the wrong way with this one. An unreliable rangefinder -no fun. So, having learned my lesson, I retuned it immediately and never looked back.

My experience too with a R3A. RF problems. Sold it with no regrets.
The RF in my R-D1 (more or less the same RF components as the R3x) did not survive a couple of impacts that did not affect my M7. This is being fixed but the VC RFs are simply not very robust. Sadly.

A plastic M8P would be great.
Plastics like Lexan, Carbon fiber, etc would make a great "Street Combat" or "Tropic Capture" unit <g>..... (Swiss Army Grey - to blend with the a sweater, or Cool White, to keep cool in the tropical sun).

Maybe you need to get back on the medication so you don't fall down so often while wearing your cameras... ;-)

I'm not saying that an M8 with plastic covers would be bad. I'm just saying it's not likely to be significantly less expensive.
For that matter, after seeing the pictures of the naked M8 chassis in DPReview's Photokina coverage, I think an M8 in "raw metal" finish might appeal to some users!

The picture of the naked M8 chassis has been a source of the most carnal lust I have experienced since high school. I have salivated over the brass top and bottom plate for hours. The magnesium body casting is my new object of desire.
This is sick
