Plaubel Makina 67 – problem with shutter/winder

Hi, I just bought a Makina 67. The lightmeter and all shutter speeds work excellent, but I've got a problem. When I load it (120 film of coarse) and close it, the shutter won't fire. It's looked in the upper position. But if I open the camera back a little, it works. So I close it, wind it, and then it's stuck again. Is anyone familiar with this problem? Do you have any idea what's wrong? All answers are much appreciated.

The lens is separated from the body by the scissors and bellows, so it's probably not the lens, it sounds like the problem is in the body itself and this may be easier to fix, I have this camera and I was reading about a place on the East Coast that fixes the bellows for the Plaubel, if you google search, I'm sure you'll find a solution. good luck! the photos produced by the Plaubel makina 67 are excellent, the meter helps alot and it's just an all around awsome camera to have, I like the Fuji 670 and 690 as well (no meter) but I paired it with a Voigtlander digital in shoe meter and the images are beautiful.

Does the camera reset the counter when opened? It rather sounds as if the counter gear is out of sync...

I have the W67 model.
These cameras are notorious for developing film advance & shutter cocking problems. The film advance mechanism and the cable that cocks the shutter are just not very robust.The "Opening the camera back a little" fix is a little strange. Might indicate something else.


There is a place in New York that has been recommended here before for repair of these (Do a search). You can also send to Plaubel in Germany for repairs. Where are you located?
