Hi guys

If you would could you take a look at my website, contentwise and tell me what I should remove or move to give you the idea that the style of my photography is apparent.

I seem to like to shoot too many things and am afraid I lose my identification by having too many things on my site.

www.jaimiepeeters.nl

and my tumblr might you want to compare www.jaimiepeeters.tumblr.com

really could use a fresh pair of eyes and an honest opinion.

I cant seem to fix those broken links.. they appear a bit too often when opening a post on its own.

Thanks for the comment on more focus for commercial work.. !

Oh I love doing this ! :D Sorry, the web is my thing, got carried away

- Your menu isn't aligned, (contact with the rest) at least not in my browser (Webkit). Do test in different browsers, especially internet exploder
- What exactly is that grey square above your name ? You could use that for some sort of logo, or just get rid of it, it hinders the readability, especially right above your name
- I like that you've given proper names to your folios (rather than a content descriptive word) but then "street" and "fashion" clash with that.
- Why is your blog under news ?
- I see you're also going for a simple, elegant look. I suggest you experiment a bit with the color theme and the typography, nothing extravagant, but it will make a big difference
- Last thing, I don't know if this is your aim, but like thegman suggested, if your goal is to get gigs, I also suggest spending time trying to get better ranking on search

Oh, as far as content goes, I wouldn't mix BW and color in the same set. That's an entirely personal preference however, but I do suggest you think about it

Also, on your contact page I see you have your email clearly spelled out, I don't know if you know this, but you're exposing yourself to potentially plenty of spam

A couple things:
About the grey square above your name, I'd like to politely disagree with Lauffray; I think it adds a good balance to the theme. If it weren't there, you'd lose some solidity in that corner. (It could be used for a logo though...)

Agreeing with Lauffray – "Blog" is a better name for your "News" section.

Your all rights reserved... blurb at the bottom of the right menu hangs off rather awkwardly.

Don't forget that not everyone views the web on bright, high-contrast displays. On a crap display or an average projector, your site's going to look particularly washed-out.

You might have looked into this already, but the broken like (actually broken image) situation mentioned has to do with the image tag being sourced via a PHP call with something called TimThumb... oddly, if you click on the broken image, the image will pop up... you might have gallery or slideshow or something mis-enabled.

Thank you so much for your comments.. it's interesting that most response is on the design of the website.. while I was more interested in the content; which images don't belong on the site because they tend to disrupt the signature of the photographer and instead make unclear image of what I shoot...

I seem to get a more "this is me" feeling when looking at my, somewhat raw, tumblr page

do you agree?

Hi!

Alot of these things I seem to cannot change myself as it is a fixed theme. :(

And the site has been online only since 1st of june so indeed I need to spend time trying to get a better ranking. But how?

You can edit the wordpress theme pretty liberally if you know your way around the CSS
Better ranking comes with good quality incoming links to your site. Don't use flash, and on your blog use relevant words in your posts. Use alt and title tags on your images if you can
The thing is most engines don't understand pictures, so you have to help them out with a bit of relevant text. Don't spam the keywords in the headers either, it'll backfire
Have you installed google analytics ? it's a pretty nice tool

This isn't a website issue, as I know nothing about websites. But you need to do some work on your flash work. Either get your models away from the wall or invest in a soft box or (more cheaply and less cumbersome) some umbrellas. The flash shadow are distracting and need to be eliminated or softened.

Unless your customers like that.

this is indeed a particular choice of working. Harsh flash, a bit overexposed and harsh shadows.

If you'd look on www.jaimiepeeters.tumblr.com you'll see I have done a lot more before in the softer lighting technique.

Bad advice. His flash work is what people like nowadays, including myself.
