About the contrast between tent and sky, I see what you mean. The sky was blue and the tent was in shade, so illuminated by blue light. The image was converted to B+W in SnapSeed using a red filter.

Nice idea to have the tent mimic the clouds. I would have squared up the framing and put more of the sky and less of the tent. Also maybe boost the contrast a bit. As others have said, though, there may not be enough going on here, either tonally or as subject matter, to hold attention.

I actually like that the tent and sky are similar in tone. The way I read it, the splotchy light pattern on the tent mimics the cloud pattern in the sky. For me that is the visual pun. I like the picture, but perhaps it could have had more sky, so it balances out the top and bottom.

Frank, ... that's not asking for appraisal its just showing off ...
... and yes I like the the similar tones thing too, in fact I'd have another go and try to get them even closer, asuming its a colour file to start with.

I guess I don’t see what you’re seeing. To me, this is just a tent set against a sky with some clouds. Nothing to write home about.

Hi, i like it.
It´s a clean subject and the tonal ranges are beautiful, but you should have worked harder to achieve a neat perfect symmetry.
The tent lines are so clear that in your viewfinder the composition would have worked inmmediatelly.
Perhaps you could try the capture once more with various angles and then you may upload three or four variations.

Can you go back and retake it with the light on the tent, and the clouds all just so.

I enjoy hearing the opinion of others.
Here's what I was seeing/thinking that works: dividing the image into 3 horizontally with the wall/roof/sky and dividing the image into 3 vertically with the peaks, the mimicking of the clouds with the light blotches, the texture/wrinkles in the wall, the interesting sky due to clouds and red filter, and the overall tonality.

I'll go back tomorrow to see. The wedding was today and tonight. I don't know the couple, it's just that it's being held on the agricultural museum grounds where I take my dog for a walk.

That's my take; I quite like it. It's less about the subject than it is about the tonality. Or rather, the tonality is the subject. It doesn't really matter that it's a tent.
EDIT: I clicked through and saw the original color image, and think the black and white is much better! The color one looks like a picture of a tent.

I'm wondering about those who commented about lack of interesting content, how they feel about some famous images that lack interesting content. William eggelson's (sp?) tricycle in a driveway comes to mind but I'm sure there are even more minimalistic images.

I was actually joking, given that the light and clouds are out of your control. This is typically one of these pictures that will have a totally different atmosphere one day later or even 5min later.
If you have a chance to go back, by all means do. You never know what you might get.
