Please help: Nikon V1 + KIWI Minolta AF lens adapter

I just got myself an adapter from KIWIfotos (THIS one) to be able to mount Minolta AF (Sonny) lenses on my V1 and I seem to have a problem to make it usable.

I can only use it in M mode, otherwise the camera complains that there is no lens mounted. The adapter has a ring which allows to set the aperture (but you do not know the value).

The main problem is that the camera automatically adjust the brightness of the EVF or LCD so that I have no idea whether the image is going to be heavily over or under exposed.

I have checked the menu of V1 but did not find any additional setting options. So the usability point is rather low.

I do not know whether this is specific to this adapter (rather cheap one, bus well made), or a high-end one from Novoflex would be better.

Firmeware version of the V1 is 1.30

I would appreciate any help or ideas.

My experiences, exactly, with the Fotodiox adapters.

They work, but require quite a bit of forethought and some trial and error to make sure the lens is focused and the exposure is correct. Note there is no "zoom" feature to check focus ahead of time; you have to zoom into the photo to check focus after the fact.

I'm headed out today with my F-to-1 adapter to confirm if at least I can shoot using the Sunny 16 rule. I assume it will work.

I also bought the Nikon Rangefinder S to Nikon 1 adapter, which has been a mixed bag. The longer lenses (105 and 135) won't focus all the way to infinity, and my short lenses (CV 21 and 35) have some sort of interference issue that prevents them from working. They'll physically mount onto the camera, but the photos all come out pure black. I haven't figured out why.

Sorry maybe stupid question... maybe i am reading into this incorrectly....

It sounds like u are not getting any metering/exposure info.. Or is just u are not getting the type info live view u are after?

If it is the former...

Does the Nikon allow for aperture priority or full manual mode? In other cameras that I have used adapters, this forces the camera to provide all the exposure info.

The live view related, some cameras are like that, no option to give realistic view.
