Plustek film scanners

Anyone ever used one? what are your thoughts?

Hi,

I bought a Plustek 7200i recently, and was unhappy with it; it's very slow to use.

I've been using a Plustek 7300 + Silverfast software and I am very happy with it. The scans are much better than the CVS or Target scans I was getting before.

I have nothing else to compare it to, but it does seems a little slow. There are a few pictures on my flickr tagged with "plustek" and "7300" if you need sample images. 🙂

what resolution did you guys scan at? I've only used a nikon coolscan V at 350dpi and it was maybe 5-10 seconds per slide.

If I remember correctly I scan at 2000dpi and it takes about 15-20 seconds.

oh geez, when i was in my college's image lab where they have coolscan v's I didn't dare scan over 350dpi because at 400dpi the image was huge and took a wile to scan but was pretty much unusable from an on screen perspective. If I just want to put images up on my web page instead of printing (that's what my negatives are for) is the plustek (even the cheapest one) worth it? You mentioned that it's better than the target scans which I think are the best out of all the processors but it's getting to the point where I've got too many photo cd's lying around and at 99cents per roll to process I neg scanner would save me considerable amounts of money.
