Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Plustek OpticFilm 7200i Film Scanner. Since my Nikon is not working very well this one seen on Adorama's site has an attractive price and 7200 dpi.
This is nowhere hear as good as your V ED, Dick, why not send you Nikon in for a service? It's going to cost me ~£65 here in the UK, taking trans-Atlantic pricing into consideration, perhaps it will be $65 over there?
Say no more, I'm convinced! I am lazy and wanted to avoid packing and shipping, but I will. Has Nikon discontinued the V ED? I don't see them advertised new.
I think it's a given that the 7200dpi should not be regarded as true. But other than that, why do you consider this scanner a toy? Have you personally used one and done side by side comparisons to the Nikons?
I have the 7200 and in my opinion it is "acceptable." I don't even bother asking the Plustek for 7200 dpi - images are decent at 3600. The bundled Silverfast Lite software needs to be upgraded - by the time you have a better version you will be into this for $350+ but it is still less money than the Nikon. BUT - you get what you pay for.
