PM via classified page ?

I sent a PM directly from a classified ad.
After half a day, I checked my "sent" folder - the PM does not show up there.
Had to send directly from the "Private Messages" page.
Only tip-off was I had no response from the seller, so I checked.
 
Well, it happened again today (3 months after I posted the above).

I sent a PM from the classified page. No error message.
But it never went out, and this time, I missed out on the item.
Checked my "sent" folder and there is no message shown, so the message was never sent to the seller.

Can anyone explain and / or help fix this ?

I'm not sure what went wrong or how to fix it, but you might try clicking on the member's name and sending a message that way. Then immediately ck your "sent" folder afterwards to confirm that it was indeed sent.
 
Dave, I sent PM's from a classified page over the last week, and it worked fine for me. I made a couple of purchases.

(I clicked on Contact Seller. The ad I PMed through was posted on March 30, if that makes a difference.)

I think Classifieds have their own PMs. I once realized I had an unread PM there waiting for me for many months without realizing that.

Am trying to check that out with the seller now.

If that's true, it would be wise if the forum software sent alerts to sellers with PM's in their classified's inbox, I think.

????

You can see your messages sent through the classifieds PM system by clicking My Messages in the column on the left.

It would be wise if the software sent alerts to sellers with PMs in their classifieds inbox, but it ain't gonna happen (too much work and expense for software that's already cobbled together as it is). Be happy with what you've got and just be sure to use the regular PM system (click "Contact Seller" in the ad) from now on ;)
 
Well, then maybe just disable the "send message" button that's on the classified ad's page.

Twice now, in 3 months, a seller did not know he had a PM from an interested buyer (me), and I did not know about the separate message page for classifieds.

Yeh.... disable the classified "send message" menu item.
 
It's been several years now since you can't see more than one page of ads... So I wouldn't expect a "feature" that most people don't even know about to get any attention.
 
Just for the record.... this is the menu item (on the page for the specific ad) that goes your ad-related PMs. These PMs do NOT appear in your regular PM mailbox.
I don't know if you get alerts regarding the ad-related PM's (??), but based on my buying experiences, I think not.
