A thing in motion is totally different to the same thing stationary. It comes alive, it sprouts wings, it sings - in short, it becomes lyrical, magical - poetry.

Let's see those images where an object we usually associate with being dull, boring and stationary becomes transformed into something altogether different purely by being set in motion.

I'll kick it off with my recent photo, Leaping Sheep:

People running, dancers, any periodic movement can translate into rhythms.

I think I'll make a project of this next year ...

I like it, Arjay. One of the unique things about photography is of course its ability to depict a flow of motion over time.

Great project for 2011! I may join you on that one!

I love this too Agricola! A moment frozen in time. The clouds almost anticipate the sand being thrown up when she hits it.

Great colours too!

These are great examples of the music caught by people, animals and things caught still while in motion. I love the look on the children's faces as they concentrate so hard on their games or on creating shadows, horses and cyclist caught in action, snow, that sensational wing flapping shot, bubbles (they are so fleeting in real life)....

Keep them coming!
