Polaroid 600SE to 120

I've bought an Polaroid 600se today, and I can't find out on the internet what the proper way is to get this camera working with an Mamiya 6x7 rolfilm back. I understand that you need an Mamiya M-adapter to put on the Polaroid camera-but this adapter has somehow to be modified. Is there anyone on this forum who knows how exactly???

I know that the Mamiya Standard, Super, and Universal versions of this camera take roll film backs, but does the Polaroid version?

I either don't have them yet...this morning I bought the camera complete with a 150mm lens and pola-back on the internet...

The 600SE has back adapter claws with a slit in the middle, the Universal claws are solid. Mamiya/Polaroid made and sold Polaroid M adapters as well, but if you run into a Universal M adapter, it is quite easy to file a corresponding slit into the claws, going by the example of your Polaroid back.

Has been one of the foremost MamiyaPress/Polaroid 600SE rebuilders for many years. I just did some business with him. Bought some new masks for the early multi-format backs.

The Back adaptors and the breech locks for the Mamiya Press contracts and the Polaroid 600SE cameras were contractually designed different to protect sales for both the backs and the lenses for sales protection. However, Mamiya did eventually put some of the larger image circle lenses designed for Polaroid in Mamiya focusing mounts. Same with the backs. There are some adaptors for the Mamiya backs with the feet for the Polaroid.

I have tried to modify the Mamiya back feet by cutting the center slot for the Polaroid, but that's not all that's required, because the feet are also longer and go into the camera back farther.

I recieved the camera and lens today, but I had to send them back. They were in an very worse state, dents al over the body, fungus in the viewfinder and severe fungus in the lens...

I have the adapter. Well I have the G adapter that lets you pop on the Mamiya Rb67 backs. Have yet to play with them but I have it. Nice to know that I can also slip in 2x3 sheet film back a too, though I doubt that will happen.

The 6x9 cut film holders are getting harder to find, but they still do pop up on ebay from time to time. They are also getting more expensive. They do of course require the focusing holder, which seem to pop up for sale more often. The Mamiya Press system, being RF, is a little lighter than SLR MF for 6x7/6x9, and it is truely a system camera. You can use the cut film withoug focusing on the GG, but for DOF checking and macro work, the GG is essential.
