I had a mint polaroid Auto 100 given to me. It even has the original flash but no cover. Clean and beautiful. I remember these but have no experience with them. I know I can still get film but does anyone know where to find the instructions, preferably free, and do you have any experience with one? Are they worth the trouble for a useable folding rangefinder. I would like to try some B&W in it. I think they once had a film that made a negative also. Does anyone know if they still do?

The SX-70 is an incredible machine that was the result of multi-million dollar research. You get an slr that folds to the size of a paperback book, big bright focusing with rdfr center spot to 1 ft, no battery needed (it's a fresh one in each film pack!), and self-developing instant photos that--due to the metallic inks--are the closest thing to archival you'll find short of separations & dye-transfer.
I actually wrote this rather than c&p-ing it. Hire me, Polaroid.
The point, apart from the one my head comes to, is that you can find a working model of this little machine in a thrift store or on the eBay for $10 or less--the cost of a pack of the film on sale. Walker Evans used one--in case you need persuading.
