Polaroid camera and film donations wanted

Hi Friends,

I volunteer at Creativity Explored in San Francisco. Creativity Explored is an art school, studio and gallery for disabled people. It is an incredible place and the work that is produced is stunning.

The have asked me to put together a photography workshop and I think Polaroid would be a good way to go. That way the students can explore basic photo technique as well as image manipulation (via emulsion transfer, etc) without needing a whole darkroom.

I would like to get 4-5 instant cameras to use in the workshop. If you have a camera sitting around doing nothing and would like to donate it, I would be eternally grateful. I will pay your postage from anywhere in the continental U.S. I could also provide a receipt for tax purposes.

Just about any camera would do. My only restriction would be cameras that take currently available Fuji instant film (which I think is the old Polaroid type 100?). I would be happy to take other types of cameras if you have a stash of film to go with it.

i can vouch for creativity explored being a great place for people with disabilities. there are some real success stories related to their alumni.
they have great art programs and art shows that help the people involved in the program. this is actually the first year in a long time that my wife and i missed their amazing holiday art show...
if i had any polaroid stuff, i'd send it over...

Is a Polaroid SX-70 the type of camera you are looking for???

I have two SX-70's but sadly, film for them was discontinued a few years ago, so I think they'd be worthless to Vince's students. I wish they did still make film for SX-70, it was a lot of fun.

you can fairly easily convert a 600 film pack to fit into an sx-70 camera but due to the film speed difference you have to turn the compensation all the way to darken. you can also take the little neutral density filter out of the little round window where the camera meters and it is almost perfect. it works pretty well i've done it to one of my sx-70's. pm sent Vince.

Thank you but you're right. SX-70 film was discontinued a few years ago. There is still some available but it is expensive (over $2/shot) and will run out soon.

I think I'm looking for pack film cameras that can take the 669 (and Fuji equivalent), which includes a lot of the old folding Polaroids.

Oh yeah, forgot to add that 600 is discontinued as well though with the demise of Polaroid!!

Vince I have a brand new Polaroid Spectra if you want it. It doesn't use pack film but I thought I'd offer it.
