for all you wanna be types. Also how many of you dental assistants that could never quite get to or through dental school?

Hmmm... I work on the whim right now at a hospital (I'm a University student). If I want to work, I call and come in. I still make more that any of those numbers and I'm still WAY far away from owning an M8. Seems ridiculous to me.

Plus, whats wrong with dental assistant? I go to a dental hygienist school to get my teeth cleaned. Provides the students great practice and I get excellent care at remarkably low costs.

Is this per hour? Can someone tell folks who do a poll to set it up as if we are intelligent people, just in case we are. Is this guy still mowing lawns after school?

Don`t get too twisted just yet fellas. I think ( I hope ! ) this poll is a little
tongue-in-cheek.

Al

According to Republican presidential candidate, who needs to consult with an aid to determine the number of homes he owns, Old Man McCane, the middle class is everyone who has less than a 5 million dollar per year income.

That would be me.

So, it's fixed lens RFs for me I guess - GSNs, Oly Trips, Konica C35s, at my sub 5 million dollar per year income. That said - caveat being I couldn't put it up on eBay, I wouldn't trade the Lynx 14 I paid $2.50 for for the M8 because the M8 is -ewwwwwwwwww- digital.

Did this poll arise out of snarkiness towards uppity M8 owners?

I don't remember having ever seen the actual M8 owners as a lot attack people or make backhanded comments that would warrant such spiteful disdain for the camera and its owners.

Please note that, obviously unlike you, the majority of us don't usually have to ask our customers if they want fries with their order...:p

Yes - I have had to sell alot of fries for my M8. My hands are still cold from all the upselling to milkshakes from "water with lemon."

Come on people its a joke!!!!

I also love the John McCain comment. As if its a crime to not know where all your houses are. Its the wife who has the money - it isn't his income!!! Yes some women are actually wealthy - independent of their husbands.

The M8 is a great camera period. Its expensive as heck but its a wonderful little compact kit. Just perfect for subtle shooting.

I mean most of the comments here are just stupid. Its a luxury item people!!

These comments are like complaining that there is no inherent value to a Brioni suit when you could were a perfectly acceptable Sears brand. Go shop at Sears and stop complaining will ya?

The M8, cost etc

The M8, cost etc

I sold my R D1 and my M6 to help play for the M8. Those were fine cameras (arguably either one superior in some regard to the M8). I bought a demo M8 and that also saved me a few dollars. I save lots on what I used to spend buying and processing film. I still have a few film cameras but rarely shoot them and that makes me sad but it's just the way things are right now.

The decision to get the M8 was so crystal clear. I am not one to make quick decisions but this camera spoke loudly to me and I am very pleased with the decision months later and having just returned from a trip to Europe....carrying it everywhere I went!

I did buy my M8 while comparing it side by side with a Nikon D300. The Nikon is a fine camera but working the two cameras on the counter side by side, it was so clear to me that what I missed in a camera was the M design. With the DSLR (and I own a Pentax which I find to be a fine camera too), I am often trying to get the camera to function like a Leica rangefinder.

This new M has it's issues; who and what doesn't? There is the notion that with the price of an M8, Leica should have "gotten it right". That thinking which has some merit, becomes an obstacle for some people. And that's fine. The Leica M8 works for those of us that appreciate it.
