CR, lovely shot of the tree - what Fstop? Your processing has given a bitingly sharp and contrasty image that nicely conveys the cold crispness of the wood.

I have J3. I like the sonnar design for a 50mm. There is simply nothing this fast that is so small at 50mm. I take it everywhere. Regarding the discussion on similar lens signatures, I shoot the J3 1.5 sonnar alongside a CV 35/1.2 and often find it quite hard to work out which lens I used for a particular shot. I love both dearly, other than the weight of the 35 Nokton, which is why it gets left at home in preferance to the sonnar for a single lens option.

Of course, I am a big fan of the J-3 and have several of them. The Canon 50/1.5 Sonnar formula lens is smaller than the J-3. Heavier, but smaller.

Come to think of it- I made a working lens using the front half of the Canon and rear module of a J-3. So they are close.

Many lenses work well with B&W film, but I like using the rigid Summicron 50mm/2 with B&W film.

Nope. Not in my case, at least.

I shoot the G4 (tabbed) Summicron, and my dad shot the DR. I've printed enough negatives from both to know which one I like better, and it's not the one I have. It's not enough of a difference to make me switch, but the difference is there, it's real, and the DR wins.

I do prefer the ergos of the G4, and it's a better match to the contrast of the 35 Biogon-C which is my favorite 35, hands down. But I like the rendering of the DR/rigid better. Nothing else looks like it. It doesn't even really look like other contempraneous Leica lenses. Like the f/1 Noctilux, it stands by itself.
