I think that there's a lot of merit in doing what the Hollywood movie guys do: choose all of your lenses to have a similar look. Shooting part of a shoot with a new multi-coated aspheric 50 looks odd if you were shooting your tight shots with a 1960's vintage single coated 90mm Elmarit.

I am fully aware as are others that there exist many wonderful 50mm lenses by other brands. :bang:
