Portraits

Top: The late, great Eddie Locke -- a great drummer and a gentleman through and through. One of the musicians featured in that great Jazz Day in Harlem poster we have all seen. Wonderful man. Hassie C/M with 80/2.8 lens.
Next: contemplative mood waiting for the fish market to open in Venice. Pentax K1000, Soligor 80-300 lens.
Next: Forgot the name of this fellow, who was in town for a local music festival. Nikon D3.
Last: Sasha the wonder-cat. Camera/lens not recorded.

He asked if I was taking photos of him and I did. We don’t know each other, just bumped into him in the street.

@AAlfano: your daughter and I have the same glasses frames. My own daughter did too, for a while, but has since moved on to a different style.

My lens is a pre-AI 50mm f/2 made around 1974–76. It is identical to the Nikkor H Auto optically (6 elements/4 groups), but cosmetically like an AI lens. I understand these are referred to as Nikkor "K" lenses. It also has a minimum focus distance of 0.45 m; I think the MFD for the H Auto was 0.6 m.

My lens is like this one.

Thank you, I think that the lenses do not differ very much optically, only the coating seems different (single coating for the "H"). The "H" focuses to about 5.5 m. I've never heard here (The Netherlands) the notation "K". Fine lenses, very much underrated.
