Since most satisfied customers probably don't write about their experience I thought I'd share how a broken M8 worked out for me.
I'm using a M8u without the Sapphire glass, and basically what happened was that the plastic cover on the LCD fell off. I just lost it in the dark.

The next day I called up Leica CS, they asked me to drop off my camera at the Leica Store in Berlin. It was supposed to take 4-6 weeks, but two weeks later I got a call the camera is fixed and I can come pick it up.
They replaced the whole plastic part on the back of the camera, including the little wheel and buttons. They also cleaned and adjusted the rangefinder and extended the warranty by one year. I didn't pay a cent.

Pretty good service I'd say.

Cheers, Martin

Dear Martin,

No, you must have been mistaken. Everyone knows that Leica are wicked, useless, money-grubbing idiots. Any anecdotal evidence to the contrary can be disregarded.

(I don't do smilies but I hope most people can spot irony when they see it).

Cheers,

R.

Most of the good reports I've read have been about Leica in Solms. A lot of the bad reports have involved Leica in New Jersey. I've had only good experiences with Leica USA (a shutter adjustment on an MP demo, and the upgrade of my M8). Reasonably quick (2 weeks) turnaround, and the repairs done right. Always had good treatment by the staff (Nils, back in the day, Dave, Christian and Karen) too.
