New York Possible October Meet-Up at PhotoPlus Expo???

Huh? I did none of this.

In co-op's and condos its a pretty common "rule". For example, I have to provide the office with a letter of insurance for simple deliveries (every delivery!) where something large is being moved up via elevator. Also, when I moved in I had a set time on a certain day exactly as Cal described.

That being said, I'm hoping to make it to Puck Fair. Hope to see you all this weekend :)

Ah, I see Andre, that makes sense... I live in a lowly apartment without an elevator.

See whoever shows up at 10:00 tomorrow.

I hope to see you all tomorrow.

Good things are happening, but my life is a mess right now. Oh what fun.

Today I have movers picking up furniture for a homeless girl I met who works full-time. Down with the banksters.

John just be aware that when riots erupt things get bad very quickly. I came very close to having my skull cracked by a night stick in the 70's. I just happen to be in a bad place at the wrong time when the police had to exert their authority. I witnessed many innocent people being clubbed unconcious.

In this experience the police were criminals, but I also realize it was a forced move that required brutality because of the massive crowds. Just be extra careful.

Cal, these protest are generally uneventful and peaceful. I've photographed them many times over the last month. Of course, that could change at any moment.

I'm not sure about the Photoplus thing, but I will see you all at 1pm.
Cal, since my bike helmet was stolen (along with my bike), I am not jumping into the middle of any tax riots either.

I just went to B+H, and they have a Nikon, Canon and Sony booth too.
They have a nice Plaubel Makina with 55mm lens in the used department though. I fondled it, but at $3700 I'll pass on that one.

It was in 1975 on a 4th of July that was unusual because it was not humid and was a perfect summer day. Young people gathered in this huge park next to the Nassau Collesium with coolers of beer and food waiting for the free fireworks show held at the nearby collesium later that night. It resembled the beach because of all the spread blankets and every once an a while an errant frisby would come my way and I'd get a turn. I was a 17 year old kid back then.

Around dusk I went to the bathroom in the back of a bandshell. When I walked in a drunk just so happened to throw a beer bottle into the bandshell and when it broke it made a popping sound like a gun.

When I came out of the bathroom there were about a dozen drunks smashing bottles, and it sounded like machine guns. I saw some others grabing full garbage bags of bottles to join in.

I was acually pretty far away from all the violence, but I didn't take notice of a line of cops assembling in full riot gear untill they began to close ranks and march.

I was walking towards a handsome couple that clearly were in a state of bliss as they openly displayed their love and happiness openly with the public, then I saw this cop swing his nightstick into the back of the guys head, and then I heard that aweful sound of the hollow sound of someone's skull being cracked as the nightstick resonated.

The guy slumped forward from the blow, his girlfrien knelt over him not knowing she was in danger, and then I heard that aweful sound again, then the girl's head rested on her boyfriend's chest like she had fallen asleep.

The cop looked up from his trophies and saw me frozen like a statue staring at him. I was only a step away, but I was so scared that all I could do was look at him, and he seemed surprised that I had witnessed what he did.

Perhaps he did not want to destroy my face, and all he had to do was take one gentile step forward, he would be within reach to stike me down, and I was next. The cop said, "Exit the park," and pointed away from him with his night stick, but I knew that this could be a ploy to get a clear shot at the back of my head, I already knew not to trust him, and I told him that my friends and their car were behind him.

Not sure if engaging with him made it less likely I would be struck down, but I believe it was so. My confrontation likely presented myself as a human and harder for him to stike down, but I also thought that if I was going to be stuck down I would look him right in the face. All around me I saw bodies laying on the ground as I turned away, still not knowing if I would get hit anyway.

I had no money and was forced to hitchhike on an entrance ramp in the dark. The driver who picked me up happened to be Larry Klienman a DJ from WLIR. I recognized his voice, but we really didn't talk because I was in a bit of state of shock.

Riots kinda happen as a surprise. It only takes a rather small incident to provoke a brutal response.

Cristian you have good taste. I would love to get another Plaubel. Did you happen to notice the crack on the base near the tripod socket?

Also Adorama happens to also have a Plaubel with a 55/4.0 for $3999.00 Ouch.

Can you guys get me some Free Film at Fujifilm at the trade show :)

Can you guys get me some Free Film at Fujifilm at the trade show :)

I went to Javits Convention Center this afternoon for just over an hour. Got my picture taken twice by testers at the Fujifilm. I'd always heard that Instax wasn't that good, but I have to say it's quite a bit better than the Impossible Project's stuff so far.

Deal number one there is if you buy the larger of the Instax camera, they'll give you two packs of film for free. Deal number two, (can you guys get me some tomorrow?) is that they're going to give away all the film they have there: some 35 mm and 120s: Acros, Provia....as well as FP 3000 B, FP100-45C (?) ...etc. I'd love to have some of the FP 3000 bs since I'd just gotten my Polaroid Auto 100 to work! Granted there were a lot, but they're probably the only people at the show that had film of any sort. Anyway, since you all will be there at 10, maybe you'll get first dip.

(Check out the $1800 Fuji 6x6/6x7 Folding camera)

Thanks! Have fun!

Cal, I did ask about the crack. I really liked the camera. I was surprised that it is heavier than the mamiya 7, really solid. It is an all round nice compact package. I thought the finder was a little disappointing though. It is good, but it is not quite a Leica M6, nor a Technika 70. Maybe, one day...

Hling, I wasn't planning to go to the expo, but free film sounds tempting. I just bought some of the FP-3000b. It is really great stuff.

Well, at the show, for "cute" factor, I saw the Pentax Q, and the Ricoh GR's "lens on a block" swapping system. Also saw Leica's V-Lux 30 from outside the cabinet. I didn't have time for the huge telescopic lenses over at Nikon (I think?)....but yeah, I like the FP-3000b so far.
