Epson V700 can do quite well with larger medium.
This one is from a 6x12 frame taken with a nikkor W 75/4.5.

Click on image for 4700pix version.

You probably won't be able to tell much from the size, but I'll post it anyway.

Camera: Fuji Natura Black 24mm/f1.9
Film: 35mm Kodak BW400CN
Scanner: Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV
Scanning software: Vuescan 9 x64 (MacOS)

i am interested in your settings with 8800, bought a 9000f recently and i get nothing like that. it's blotchy and soft
thanks

Well this is not straight from the scanner. I use Vuescan software and try to get the negative as flat as I can from the scan, then I adjust the levels in photoshop and even add a little contrast. Thats how I get them like this.

The first Epson V700 scan is from a 6x6 negative, the second is a 100% crop from the same file. The last one is the same crop, but scanned on an Imacon Flextight Precision II. Only black and white points set, no sharpening.
The V700 scan looks ok and ready for postprocessing in LR, but if you look at the crops, you can see the difference. The scan from the V700 is not sharp and there is information missing.

Regards,
Frank

Two scans from the cheapest film scanner you can (or better: could, as there is a newer model now) buy, the Epson V330, both scanned with the Epson software.

Here's a bigger version of the same image, maybe post processing has been a little bit different:
