Post Bronica Photos... Any format. I just want to see Bronica photos

Hi Everyone,

I need some help pushing me over the edge to buy a Bronica outfit. Please post some photos from your Bronica, PLEASE! Any format or model is fine by me.

I bought a S2A a little while ago and discovered I like medium format photography. Now, I want a complete outfit, so please post some photos. I am looking at a SAqi and SB with a 40mm, 50mm, 80mm and 150mm lenses. Also, included in package are two film back, a Polaroid back and case.

Here are my contributions to start things off.

You do know that the Polaroid back is a paperweight?

Search this forum for photos by wclavey. He has a Bronica, 3 Nikkor lenses, backs, prism, etc. He also has a pair of Mamiya TLRs and lenses. I use a Pentax 6x7, 45-105-150 lenses and a Hasselblad with an 80mm Planar. I'm not convinced that you could tell the negatives apart on a light table. Except for the 6x7 part. Grinning.

Bronica C + 75mm Nikkor or 50mm Nikkor

Any of the early era Nikkors are great lenses, though the 50mm is spectacular IMHO. Very close focusing, sparkling clear with lovely out of focus quality.

Of course - pictures from a Bronica are immediately distinguished from those of other cameras by the experienced and discerning eye! 😉

No electronics in the B

I love Bronica and have had S, S2, S2a, ETR, SQ, SQ-A and B models.

Have always been pleased with the result. Just want to make sure you know that the B model has no options for metering. None of the electronic addons will work on the B. It was designed as a mechanical (simpler) version of the A and A1 series. From a resale standpoint, you'd be ahead to buy an A/A1. The only reason I bought a B was that I got it in mint condition LNIB for $275 about ten years ago, with waistlevel and 80mm lens.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for posting. Sadly, I had to walk away from the SQB and lenses I had my eye. I had a friend, who is a camera dealer, tag along with me to give the camera final look over. He indicated that the bodies and lenses were in good shape, BUT that they all needed to be CLA'ed.　Estimated CLA cost 45000 yen or 500$ USD. I had to pass.

I want to thank everyone for posting photos. The photos have got me thinking my hefty Bronica S2 is a fine camera and all I need it are two more lenses, especially the 50mm.

I have a 75mm and a 135mm along with the 50mm, but I almost never take the 50mm lens off the camera. My version is the f3.5 (Nikkor-H) which is large diameter but fits very flat to the camera - almost a pancake lens if that is the right term. There is an f2.8 version (Nikkor-O) that is not as large diameter-wise but length-wise is longer. I am tempted by the extra speed of that lens but not by the price. 🙂

I am just trying to revive this thread. I sold my Bronica S2 because I was given a Pentax 67 with two lenses. Though the Pentax produced some great photos I did not like it. It was simply to heavy for eye-level focusing. So it languished on the shelf until I found beautiful Bronica SQ-A with a 80mm f2.8 and 40mm f4. I am overjoyed to be using it. It light in comparison to the Pentax and I love the waist-level viewfinder.
